4/28 We have had Missy for 3 weeks now and she has been great. She does not have any bad habits, she is so well behaved and very sweet. She is doing much better with eating she no longer takes a few bites and walks away, she eats her entire bowl of food when it is put down (1 in the morning and 1 at night). She is very skinny, I would like to see her gain about 7-10 lbs. She continues to have free roam of the house and does excellent. She loves to be outside, however she is a little timid walking around a lot of traffic, so we are walking on the main streets to try and get her used to it. She went to my daughter’s softball game this weekend, there were a lot of people there and she was great, people came up to say hi and she loved every minute of it. She was really interested in the other dogs that were around and would have loved to go play. Missy, Laila and Clementine have done so well together, they are getting along perfect. I think she will adjust to just about any living situation, however, Missy is very affectionate and really loves people and other dogs, so it would be nice for her to have someone in and out of the house a lot or another companion to spend time with. She would even do well with someone who could take her to work if they are on the road a lot. She loves to go in the car, I run errands with her for hours in and out of the car and she is fantastic. I am sure that she would be fine left alone with a few outdoor breaks throughout the day too, but, my house is so active that she hasn't been alone between the dogs and the kids in and out all day she gets a lot of stimulation. She really made an impact on our family and she will be missed when she goes to her forever home. She is going to make some lucky family very, very happy!
4/14 Missy has been with us for 1 week now and she is a perfect little lady. We kept her separated from my 5 year old Boxer (Laila) and 13 year old Beagle (Clementine) at first but Laila and Missy kept kissing each other through the gate so we finally took it down. Laila loves having a boxer that she can play with, they do play really well, however Laila can come on a little strong sometimes and Missy will run away and come to me to protect her but then she gets right back in the action, they have become best friends. She loves to go for walks and does really well on the leash except she does get scared of loud noises and runs away from the noise so you have to make sure you have a good grip on the leash in case a loud car or motorcycle drives by. She also loves to go for rides in the car. She is really good at letting you know when she has to go out (before she got used to the dog door) and she hasn’t had one accident in the house since she’s been here. She does have free roam of the whole house all day and night and does excellent, but we have a very active house and someone is always in and out they are never alone for too long. She LOVES people, she can be a little timid with someone new but once she is around you for just a few minutes she gets so excited she practically turns herself inside out. She listens really well and her manners are great. She has shown no signs of aggression at all and has no desire to be the dominant dog in the house. Food is not that important to her (something we are not used to), she is not in a rush to eat and will walk away from her food, so I do supervise to make sure she eats it all before one of my girls can eat it.. She is so dainty and affectionate. She truly is a sweet, sweet girl everyone who meets her falls in love. Missy is a gorgeous fawn female boxer who is coming into rescue due to an incident between her and the other dog she lives with who she hurt in a fight. However prior to this fight they got along fine, and she also does fine with strange dogs. She may need to be placed as an only dog and interactions with other dogs will need to be supervised. She is very sweet and friendly and full of typical boxer wiggles. She is not crate trained but she is used to being home for the work day in a dog proof area of the house provided she gets a mid day break. No history with cats. Watch for updates once we secure a foster home and get to know Missy better. |
