5/4 Daisy has been with us for a full month already! Daisy has settled in very well and adjusted rather quickly to our life style and to my male boxer Louie. As I said before she really is up for anything. She is fine with all sorts of people, adults, children/men or women. She tends to get extremely excited when people come over or walk by and does jump, we continue to work with that and she is doing better with it, she will need someone who can continue to be consistent with reminders that it is not o.k. Daisy had her first vet visit as well and is being treated for tick born illness, but is doing fine. She is drinking, eating, walking, and acting normal and is on antibiotic for it. When giving her the pills she is again very good, lets you open her mouth right up and swallows for you now problem. Daisy has no problem with people near her mouth, we brush her teeth and she sits and lets you do whatever you need to do. She has been left alone now with the upstairs free for her to roam and she hasn't had any issues at all! (we keep the bathroom door shut no matter what, a precaution I have always taken with dogs, toilet paper seems to be enticing) I have left things in the rooms purposely and there is no interest in anything other than her toys. She likes to lay on our bed when we aren't home, and she prefers the couch in the spare room at night with her blanket. She is not a fan of the crate. Daisy would do best in a home that does not mind dogs on the furniture. Daisy also loves to play with me and have some alone time with me, she would do fine in a home with a male dog or with no other dog but with an owner who really loves just being with her and playing with her and would be able to every day. 4/14 We are in our second week with Daisy and she has adjusted really well to our schedule and to Louie too. We still separate them at feeding time, at night, and when we aren't home, neither of them mind because by that time they have played for hours and are ready to relax. Daisy is eager to make her human companions happy. When you want to relax she is all for it and relaxing with you, when you want to play that's great too and she will play until you say play time is over. She is great on a leash too and walks following your lead, she is a little protective with strangers and will need the reassurance of her owner that this person(s) is O.K. to come near you. We leave Daisy in a small gated area of the house when we are not home, with her crate and toys, she has been excellent!
A typical day for Daisy: We open up the gated area and she
can't wait to give us our morning kisses (a couple dozen), we all go
downstairs and we take her to do her business outside (it's clock work with
her). Next, her and Louie play for a while and I get ready for work. After
they calm down it is feeding time and they both know their respective places
and eat. When I am getting ready to leave Daisy will go right upstairs and we
gate her off where her crate and toys are. When we get home she can't wait to
see us and her wiggle butt almost wiggles off!! We'll go out for a walk and
after she will play for a while and then it is TV time and we all are quiet.
Bed time is a cinch Daisy in her area and Louie in his, they both collapse for
the night. Daisy truly is a balanced, well behaved, eager to please, lovable
dog and will make a great companion in a home with other male dogs. Daisy
will also do well in a home being the only dog if her human companions are
home with her most of the time. The home that adopts Daisy will be very lucky
to have such an easy going/up for anything dog like her.
4/6 - Daisy arrived at her foster home this weekend, she is starting to settle in. She is very good, a little skittish with Louie not sure yet of him but will get close to him as you'll see, she lets him do what he wants and follows him to figure it all out. She is a really nice dog. They ran around at the park today and were very good. More updates to follow as we get to know her. Daisy is coming into rescue as she is not getting along with the other female boxer in her current home. She is fine with male dogs, she is also good with kids but has no history with cats. She is used to a large fenced in yard, however she can jump a 5 ft fence so she will need a home with a fence that is 6 ft + and to always be supervised in the yard. Daisy has always lived with other dogs, she currently lives with 3 other boxers, so we would like to see her placed in a home with a submissive male dog for company. She is crate trained and housebroken. She is used to someone who is home more often than not. Watch for updates once we secure a foster home and get to know her more. |
