10/22 We are still in progress of breaking the nipping habit that Griffin has every now and then.  It usually happens right after a long hike or play in the park.  I believe he is still in "play mode."  What we have been doing is making him sit and stay until he calms down. Griffin loves to be with you at all times of the day.  If your walking around the house ..then he is....if your lying on the couch...then he is....if your outside...then he is.  Griffin is a people person.  My husband is at home all day and now I will be working from home and Griffin has become used to the constant human contact plus his 2 fur brothers.  When Griff needs alone time he will just go out to the back yard and find his favorite spot in the sun and enjoy relaxing with the sun beaming on his shiny beautiful coat.  Its funny I didn't realize how many family members and friends have boxers so I have formed a boxer play group with his cousins and friends...we are going to start that this week.  We are soooo looking forward to that.

10/5 Griffin is doing great!  Doing really well at the park off leash and loves just playing, jumping and fetching.  On one of the colder days I lit a fire in the fireplace and he turned my home into a Rockwell Picture ha-ha ...Griffin loves to lay in front of the fire and just relax.  Watching him puts a smile on my face, he seemed so content and that's how it should be. He got another new toy a squeaky pumpkin on a rope.  Funny he chose it off the shelf himself and brought it directly to the register to purchase it....He just loves his pumpkin.

9/21 Griffin is getting bigger by the day.  He of course still has puppy tendencies but you can see the "Big Boy" coming out as well.  He is filling out very nicely and is a handsome boy!  His strength is increasing a lot as well.  He needs an experienced dog family.  He does well on the leash but every now and again he will all of a sudden want to start playing tug of war with you and his leash, this only lasts for a second if you now how to get him out of it and make him sit to regroup his attention.

Griff loves the park and the freedom he must feel there.  He loves his tennis ball throw and return game and lately he returns the ball to the lake.  You don't know how many tennis balls are in the lake on my street. ( I am going to start buying stock in tennis balls).  Right now Griff has the freedom to go out to the yard and come back in as he wishes.  He does have a couple of favorite sunbathing spots in the yard.  I have discovered Griffin doesn't like anything to do with cleaning or sweeping floors he also hates the lawn mower and rake.  He will go after the wheels or the bottom of the map, broom, and rake.  Griffin does need constant companion human and animal, this is what he has become accustom to and strives to always be interacting with something or someone, even if its lying with you on the couch ( and if you think you get the pillow think twice ha-ha).  He is a love but you need to be very calm and assertive because if there is a window of opportunity Griffin will take it and take over.  All and all he is a wonderful dog that has a heart of gold and loves to love you....100% unconditional love.......

9/7 Well Griffin has finally discovered he loves the lake!!  We go to the park everyday to play fetch, run, discover, smell, and test the water.  Griffin is happiest while doing things.  He is not a dog that will sit or lay for very long.  Griffin gets a walk daily at 10am for 1 hour, then down to the park for a good 1 -2 hours at about 230pm and then another walk at night.  I have noticed if one of these activities is missed Griffin is all over us nipping and boxing, wanting us to play.  Griffin enjoys sleeping with Bobby and the dogs at night and in the A.M. all butts are wiggling and they are just so happy to be together!  We have been working on the Nipping and it is better some days then others. Griffin is still jumping when meeting people.  He tries to control it but the excitement sometimes gets the better of him and he just cant help himself.  He is very strong and if your not watching you could end up on your butt.   He does like companionship and is never alone.  He loves our outings in the car and is a passenger seat type dog....even if somebody is already in that seat ha-ha.  He loves to smell the wind going by and is happiest when all seat buckled in and has the whole seat to himself.  He and Bobby struggled with the passenger seat and Griffin won ha-ha.  Griffin is a lover and a wonderful dog you just want to be around.

8/19 All is well with Griffin.  He has come out of his shell more these days and is very "nippy" when playing, we are working on breaking this habit.  He loves to play like a boxer, he tends to "box" when we first get out to walk or play ball.  He loves to fetch and run and is a beautiful sight to watch.  He is a good boy and tries to be very respectful of his fur brothers and his humans.  We have gone to the park and lake many times.  One of these days he might just start swimming! He does test the water and splash but not until he brother the pug shows him its OK.

8/10 Griffin is doing great.  He is very very active and will let you know when it is time to play.  We take him to the park at the end of our street, and also behind Tufts to the fields they have to toss the ball or stick which ever he is in the mood for.

His tummy is sensitive at times so we wait at least 30 - 45 minutes prior to his night time energy burning exercise routine.  He just loves the pugs and its funny because they will each have their own bones but they always will leave the one they have and go get the bone of the dog whom just left his behind. The photo below is after some rigorous exercise. I will try and get a better shot.  I keep trying to get his face but he keeps moving ( a little camera shy).  He was having a hard time being in the crate when the other 2 dogs are not in one at night.  I let him sleep with the pugs and they are usually on the floor in my bedroom or my sons room.  You don't hear from them unless its 5 am and its time for them all to go out and then eat.

We are still working on the sit and wait when opening the door.  He has been doing really good with it and has not darted out if not asked out.  Also still in progress is trying to get him from jumping on people when greeting them.  He tries really hard and does pretty good if I am in the room.  But every now and again his excitement does get the best of him and he jumps up.  Griffin still pulls on the leash when you first start out on walks, it all depends on what kind of mood he is in. But does get better of a few adjustments.

Griffin is full of love and will always have a kidney bean hug for you when you get home at night!

7/24 Griffin is a joy.  Griffin has a lot of love to give.  We have taken him on many many walks.  He does pull at first but then gets better in time.  Bobby has even walked him ( with me of course) and Griffin must realize he is with Bobby and is very gentle on the leash.  He has taken a couple of road trips to baseball games and to Dean park and was wonderful to everyone that came into his path and everyone just loved him and him them.  Soccer has become one of his favorite sports!  Its so  fun having a game or two or three with him.

The Pugs are snuggling up with him during "nap time."  Its funny to watch the interaction between the three of them.

On our trip to Petco Bobby picked an army fatigue name plate so we have nicked named him GI Griffin. ha-ha  We have put together a "play Basket" of all kinds of interesting stuff for the dogs.  There are squeaky fuzzy bones, ropes, ropes with squeaky animals attached, squeaky rubber steak, chicken leg, bones of all kinds, rubber chewy kongs, tennis balls, and much more.  Its quite funny to see how fast they learn that's where the fun stuff is.

Griffin is doing well with his stitches.  I have caught him only a couple of times licking himself but the wound looks like it is healing quite well.  Griffin's stools are thick now and his schedule fits ours perfectly so no accidents (yet).  I have not seen any skittishness from him so hopefully he is over that.  We have already started teaching him to sit and stay as we are opening the door to go out.  Hopefully over time Griffin will learn he can not go out the door until invited.  We are also starting to teach him the "correct" way to greet someone at the door.  This will be a tough one for him since the pugs bark and jump so this is going to need to be a group effort,  probably with a lot of laughs.

Griffin is a good boy. He loves to play with the dogs in his foster home and would play all day if given the opportunity. He is making great strides with his socialization. He loves attention from people, rides great in the car, and is doing well with his overall manners. Griffin does pull on the leash and will need leash work at his new home. He is a doll.

Griffin is a gorgeous boxer boy coming into rescue as he needs a home where he will get more attention and exercise.  He is full of energy and loves to play.  He is good with other dogs and kids.  Has been around some cats and would probably be OK with a dog savvy cat.

Watch for updates as his foster home gets to know him.
