4/21 Hoya here! The doctor called today with the biopsy results and it looks like the growth on my back was a benign tumor. What a relief! My foster mom says I have to take it easy because I am still recovering from my surgery but I am having way to much fun playing and exploring my new home. She seems to think that I have 24 staples in my back but I can't see them or feel them. I like to play hide and seek with my foster brother, Oreo. I roll around in the blankets until no one can see me and then Oreo steps all over me and boxes me until I come out. My foster sister can't be bothered by me..... she thinks I am annoying but at least she is not yelling at me anymore. She just pretends I'm not here so I decided to give her some space. She is kind of grouchy anyway. Gotta run I am going to play outside with Oreo!

4/14 Hoya's neuter went fine.  He is back at his foster home recuperating.  They removed the growth on his back and sent it out for a biopsy.

4/10 Oh my goodness....... I swear Hoya spent Monday night with Caesar because I woke up Tuesday to a completely different dog!

Food aggression.... what food aggression?? I am now able to give Hoya, Oreo & Kya a treat when they are all sitting next to each other. I have been feeding Hoya wet and dry food and I am now able to put the food in his bowl . I can sit on the floor next to Hoya while he is eating, pat him and move his food bowl while he is eating and he could care less. He is no longer guarding his food. Hoya has shared his water bowl with Oreo and they actually drank out of it at the same time.

Hoya's biting has decreased significantly. He is only trying to use Oreo and Kya's nub or paws as chew toys about 10% of the time instead of 80% of the time. At times he will still try to bite your hands when you are patting him but will stop when told, "NO". Oreo and Kya have adjusted to Hoya and I think Hoya now knows his boundaries,

Hoya has not had any accidents in the house. He waited by the door today to let me know he had to go outside. This was the first time he did this. Usually, he would just hold it until I took everyone out. Hoya is now able to give me his paw and when it is time for him to go in his crate I just say, " Hoya in your crate"  and he goes.

Its safe to say I have fallen in love with Hoya! He is such a good boy and he is going to make someone very happy!!

4/6 Hoya has only been with us since Monday and is doing well in his new foster home. In fact it is taking his foster sister and brother much longer to adjust. Oreo and Kya are both 6 and they are not use to having a youg boxer around. Especially, one that climbs on their head, rolls on top of them and bites their nubs and feet. However, all Hoya needs is a stern bark from them and he will back off. Hoya is a typical high energy boxer with very few manners. Hoya gets into everything, counter surfs and jumps on everyone. He is teething and biting anything he can sink his teeth into. He has a few chew toys and this definitely helps as well as a spray bottle. We give him a little squirt when he is biting something he shouldn't be and he stops immediately. He has had one accident in the house but that was in the morning when I first let him out of his crate. He is crate trained and doesn't seem to mind the crate at all. He may cry for a few minutes when he first goes in but then lays down and goes to sleep. I have been walking Oreo, Kya, and Hoya together. The first 5 minutes or so is a nightmare. He jumps on them, bites their feet and tail and everyone gets mad and tangled but eventually it works.

Hoya knows sit and down and does listen pretty well.  I gave Hoya a bath and he really seemed to enjoy it. He loves everyone he comes across and can not seem to get enough love.

Food aggression does continue to be an issue with Hoya.  I am able to feed him out of my hands and he will sit and wait for his food. If I put his food in a bowl and walk toward him or try to pet him while he is eating from the bowl he will growl at me and guard his food.  We will continue to work on these issues.

Watch for more updates as we get to know Hoya better.

Hoya is coming to us from a local shelter, and urgently needs a foster home so we can spring him from the shelter.  Hoya was found as a stray, he is a very sweet friendly boy but due to his time as a stray has developed some food aggression issues.  The volunteers at the shelter have been working on this with him by hand feeding him and he is already showing huge improvements.  But for this reason he will not be placed with children and he will need an foster home/adoptive home that will continue to work with him on this.

Hoya is a fun loving, sweet, high energy puppy that needs some training and a lot of love to overcome the rough start he has had in life. He has a lot of potential to be a great dog with training and love.
