1/7 I have to tell ya that this holiday business is something to see and be part of.  I am still shy of things I have not seen before so needless to say, everything that popped up for the holidays made me a little jumpy.  As time went on, I realized that the tree was not going to hurt me - although it did blink pretty fast.  It was fun helping wrap presents and check out all the stuff under the tree.  I loved being home with everyone and getting all the attention.  I was happy that life could slow down a little and let me get into my boxer wiggles and kisses dances more often.  I love getting hugs and being petted and kissed.  I enjoy playing outside and am usually the last to come in - just in case I miss something.  Arod and I play hide and seek around the yard - crouched down like we are hunting.  We run pretty fast, but not as fast as Cheyenne.  She gets out there and gets us tired out - I think the humans make her so we will relax a little when we get inside.  Cheyenne showed us how to play in the snow and how to make trails so Latte would be able to walk around.  We get dried off each time we come in so we are not wet or cold for long.  Then come the hugs and kisses.  Life is good.  Well, Arod found something I need to help him check out for show and tell.  See ya.

12/4/2008 – Jeter continues to improve in his foster  placement.  He appears to be the most effected by the prior lifestyle.  Loud noises, even if caused by him, will send him flying.  He has improved in the affection area – kisses and wiggles abound when you are hanging out with this
guy.  He is a handsome guy and loves to have his ears scratched.  Jeter seems to enjoy the outings although he still shows signs of being guarded when overwhelmed.  He is curious but not brave – he would prefer his human to take the first step.  He loves to play and rough house with his brother and has started to play with humans more.  Strong for his size,  you need to be cautious that he does not knock you over.  He is still trying to figure if humans are something to box or just bounce at.  We are encouraging the bouncing and discouraging the boxing part.  Jeter truly enjoys being out in the yard – often the last one in (other than Latte who  waits for everyone else to come in before the cookies are
served.)  Jeter is not so much a counter surfer – he just kind of cruises by to sniff.   We never have to worry about him not eating – food still disappears from the bowls quite quickly.  Sometimes I wonder if any animal actually taste what they are eating. Toys will keep Jeter busy – especially if he can make it squeak.  He has a couple of favorites.  He loves to chase the soccer ball when kicked or chase the Frisbee.  Jeter still spooks easily and we are working on getting him to relax.  He makes a great watch dog – hasn’t quite caught on to the “enough” command.  He loves to “chat it up” with the little dog across the street - like there are not enough animals at the zoo already.  Jeter shows less interest in the cats of the house – except of course for  Slam, the dog slayer who loves to jump out as a dog passes the couch or table.   Jeter prefers to be petted and then lie at your feet or in a comfy chair.  He is a sweet, sweet boy who has come a very long way.

10/30 Hello.  It's me Jeter.  Just saying hello and updating you on my progress.  While I am still standoffish at times, I am learning that humans are okay.  I have progressed to where I watch a lot and try to figure out what they are doing.  I love to be petted and scratched behind the ears and oh a back massage is wonderful - but only if I know you.   I am learning to walk on a leash with a gentle leader, to sit and wait while we are walking.  I am told I do pretty well.  My foster dad and I walked in a state park and I was trying to teach him that I am supposed to walk on his left side - he thought I was supposed to walk on his right.  We were quite a sight I am sure as my foster Mom was laughing at us.  I sat every time we stopped - Dad couldn't get over that either.  I have learned to sit  and stay. While I want to please sometimes I just walk away because I am shy and stubborn..  I do enjoy my "human" time - giving wiggles and  kisses.  I am not a counter surfer like my brother but I am always looking to see what to get into next.  We definitely have come a long way from where we were, but still have a ways to go.  We have a whole bunch of new toys and of course I have my favorite which squeaks the loudest.   I love running in the yard and will help clean up by bringing branches up to the deck.  Hey - there goes Arod to the yard - gotta run.

8/12 Hi.  Life is a little challenging right now because of the neutering and my having to have a collar on.  It's supposed to prevent me from licking the wound, but ha little did they know I still can.  I hear "leave it" and get redirected.

My brother Arod and I have to spend quiet time in the crate a lot more than before.  They say soon we will be able to run and play in the yard again - a favorite thing of ours to do.  I love playing with my brother - we love to run and especially sneak up on each other.

I eat well - always from the same bowl as my brother.  We are joined at the hip - sharing water bowls, food bowls, even the same bone.  Guess that comes from being the only thing for each other the past year.

I am getting warmed up to these humans.  Both seem to wait for me to come to them for attention so I am happy to let them pet me once in a while.  I am still spooky though so need to do things slowly.  I love my ears rubbed and being scratched under the no bite collar - it's itchy and I can't scratch it myself.

I like all the animals here. Not as interested in the cats as Arod, but I am paying attention.  Leave it, off, come and I love you are words I hear a lot.  The I love yous are always more abundant and come with hugs and kisses.  Not sure if I like that or not yet as I am very shy.  I think it is a good thing though as I don't shrink away as much as I did before.

Life is good - gotta go for quiet time with Arod.  We are best buds.

7/28 Hi - it's me Jeter.  Foster Mom tries but has a hard time saying my name correctly.  She is getting better at it - even if I don't respond.  Must be something she wants me to know.

My brother, Arod and I arrived at the Savage Zoo on Saturday.  There are lots of other animals here and we have met almost all of them.  They have these two little birds in a cage which kept me mesmerized for a second.  Okay as a young one, nothing keeps my attention for very long.

We met and get along with all the animals here.  What a place!  They have a huge yard for us to run in and the humans are always close by as we explore.  I love to run and have my brother chase me.  We even are allowed to run inside around through the rooms when we feel the need.  We love to share everything.

I am the more reserved one.  Still trying to figure out what these humans are all about.  They pet me and that's okay but I'm not to the boxer kisses like my brother.  My foster Dad seems to be the one who can get everyone's attention with his deep voice.  I like him, but not enough to kiss like Arod.

I had a bath - let me tell you that when my foster Mom wants to give you a bath there is no talking her out of it.  Even with all four paws straight out like trying to keep from getting in that water, she won that battle.  She talked and petted me and eventually I sat down.  It wasn't all that bad and boy do I look and smell a lot better.  I even got a new collar as my old one was too tight.

Mom has moved a lot of stuff from the table tops as Arod and I like to explore.  She found some toys and those kept us busy during the rainy time yesterday.  Neither of these humans mind if we want to go out in the rain; they have this need to dry us off with a towel though.  What's up with that!

We are learning that humans are okay to be around.  I like to sleep with my head on my Mom's feet and I like to be petted.  Everyone moves slowly with me as I am still a young guy and have a lot to learn.

I went for a short walk on a gentle leader.  Let's just say the beginning of the walk was tiring but I got the idea and pranced all the way home.

Ooops, Foster Dad seems not to like the idea that we stole something from his bed (a stuffed bear) so guess I had better go help Arod find something else to get into.  There is plenty to do and we are non stop.

Catch ya later.

Jeter is a gorgeous flashy fawn male that is coming into rescue with his brother A-rod.   Jeter can be a little on she shy side initially.  They currently spend a lot of their day outside in a kennel.  Neither of these boys appear to have any basic commands or manners, but are both sweet and friendly.  As soon as we secure foster homes they will both be off to our vet to be neutered.  Watch for updates as we get to know these handsome boys.
