Miles -  Male Boxer
Requirements for this dog:

Good with other dogs and older kids, used to a fenced yard, no history with cats.

For More information on this dog please read his bio below.

3/20 Miles has now been with us for 2 full months.  He’s doing great and has settled into our routine very nicely.  Miles is a funny boy and we find that we’re laughing at his antics often.  He is extremely well house-trained, not having had a single accident since he’s been with us, and he seems to have a larger bladder than our two, because he doesn’t wake us up at 6:00 AM sharp to go out, like our male does every morning.  Miles is content to sleep in, then eat breakfast, then go out afterward (we much prefer his morning pace).  Miles and Buster and Izzy get along great.  We got our Izzy from Boxer Buddies back in August of 2002 and she is the bright spot in our every day.  The 3 dogs together love car rides and they get very excited about their daily walks.  We’re looking forward to taking them to the park, now that the last of the snow is finally melting.  We leash them on walks, of course.  Miles would do well in a home with a fenced yard, but that isn’t a necessity, since our yard is not fenced.  He does listen to commands, especially the ‘no’ command.  As evidenced in our household, he will do well with other dogs, but he strikes me as likely to be very happy one-on-one with an adult or in a family with kids, as well.  He has been great around our many family members, young and old.  Miles is a sweet, snuggly, happy-go-lucky guy.  The home that ends up with Miles will be a lucky one

2/18 Miles has been with us as his foster family now for one month.  He is a terrific boy!  He is getting along beautifully with our two Boxers and has learned the routine of the house very quickly.  We have had no fighting over food or toys (and Miles loves his toys!).  He listens to and follows commands very well.  He is as good at communicating his needs as any dog we have ever known.  If he wants to go out, he will come and find one of us, becoming very vocal until he gets our attention, then will lead us to the door and stand there until we let him out.  He will do the same thing when it is breakfast or dinner time, leading one of us to his bowl and then pawing at it, as if to say 'get busy making my dinner...I'm hungry'.   We go for walks on the leash each day and he never pulls, nor does he ever lunge at passersby.  We go out in the yard with him off leash and, so far, has been very good about staying close by.  He quickly responds to 'no' if he starts to wander down the driveway.  He eats all of the food given him and has never been finicky.  He doesn't have any of the digestive issues that our female has, nor does he have the bladder issues that our older male has.  We don't use a crate, so we can't speak to that, but Miles does very well having free reign of the house.  He has never once even attempted to pick up or chew an item that was not one of the many toys that we have all over the house, in fact, he has never shown any destructive behaviors whatsoever.  Miles is sweet and lovable (and a good cuddler) and will make a great addition to his forever family.

1/27 – We have been fostering Miles for a full week now and have had the chance to get to know him better.  He is a very sweet and handsome, healthy, brindle male.  He seems to have had no troubles with this transition, as there has been no acting out, no bathroom mistakes, no destructive behaviors, etc.  He is very clear in signaling when he wants to go out – in fact it’s about the only time he barks – when he wants to go for a walk or go out for his bathroom breaks.  He does make excited guttural noises when he sees the neighbor’s dogs outside.  Unlike our two Boxers, Miles does not lick your face at all!  He is quiet and gentle, but has plenty of energy when he wants to play.  Miles only plays with the toys we have around the house and has never once picked up a shoe or any other off-limits object.  In short, he is very nicely house trained and well behaved.  He gets along very well with our 7 year old male and 8 year old female.  We have every reason to believe that he would be great with kids, given his gentle nature.  We do allow our gang on one of our beds and on one of the sofas.  Miles prefers to use the dog bed on the floor during the day, but he does seem to prefer sleeping through the night on the sofa.  I can’t speak to how he’d react to use of a crate, as all three dogs are free to roam the house at all times.  I work from home, so they get plenty of attention throughout the day.   Miles travels in the back of our SUV very well and settles down as soon as the car starts to move.  We haven’t yet tried to travel with all three in the car at once.  It is our understanding that he saw his Vet immediately prior to leaving his former family’s home and is up to date on his vaccinations for now.  We gave him a bath and cleaned his ears within the first 2 hours of his arrival here last week and he was incredibly docile and cooperative.  We feed him twice a day and he has a healthy appetite.  He needs to learn better manners when his human companions are eating, as he becomes vocal in his begging and we learned the hard way that you can’t sit your coffee mug within his reach.  Other than the need to learn better table manners, we believe that Miles will make an incredible companion and a loving addition to his next home!

1/20 Miles is a handsome and sweet guy.  He has already been playing with Buster and Izzy for the past hour and a half and they're finally starting to slow down.  Izzy was so very excited that she threw up twice.  They all seem to get along quite well, for starters at least.  Miles got his first bath here (seems he hadn't had one in some time) and he was as gentle and easy in the process as any dog I've ever washed.  He let us clean inside his very dirty ears and get him spick and span, without any complaints.  So far, so good.

Miles is a sweet boy. Good with other dogs, no history with cats and is good with older kids. He is used to a fenced yard. Miles is not crate trained but is fine with free roam during a work day. Please watch for updates once he arrives in foster care.
