3/27 Just an update on Kita. She saw the vet last week and was put on some antibiotics. That appears to have cleared up the kennel cough and she is feeling much better.

We were out of town for a couple of days and since she had the kennel cough, she could not stay with my friend, so the dog walker took care of her. She did very well. The dog walker did find a tick on her, but I took care of that yesterday.

As far as her and Trot, it is very inconsistent. They are kept separated when no one is home. When home, I have been taking down the baby gate. They seem to do okay - there have been a couple of instances where they will both be asleep on the two couches, can pass each other in the hall without incident etc. However, we have had a few 'spats' as well. It appears to be curiosity on Kita's part, but she will get in his face or run after him if he attempts to walk away. So far, no bloodshed.

Last night Trot was sitting in the bathroom sink when I went to bed and about 5 minutes later we heard a commotion. She went in there after him. She came right away when we called her. Unfortunately, in the mean time the cat snuck under the bed to hide. When Kita was circling to lay down on her bed, Trot took that as some sort of threat and hissed and smacked her, which started it all over again.

I think at the end of the day, they just need a bit more time and will be okay. They had been separated for a few days straight while we were away..... so maybe that had something to do with it.

3/11 Nakita is settling in at her foster home. She is such a goof. Was practicing 'headstands' on her bed last night while we cooked dinner (not entirely sure what she was trying to accomplish - guessing she must have had an itch).

She is really very good .  Very well trained and does fine when left alone. Full of wiggles and kidney beans when we get home. Doesn't really know what to do with Trot our cat yet. They are still separated, but if she sees him she stares, and stares some more. (he is not pleased).

She doesn't beg, which is nice, but it is very funny if we eat in the living room. She sits on the other side of the table - doesn't whine or anything - but DROOLS in huge puddles.

So hopefully it continues to be good news for Kita as she settles in..

Nakita is a very nice friendly dog, who knows her basic commands. She has no history with cats and seems to be a little bossy with other dogs so she may be best placed as an only pet.   She is housebroken and already spayed.

Watch for updates once we get to know Nakita
