Aspen - Female Boxer

Requirements for this dog:

Good with other dogs, Older Kids, No history with cats

For more information on this dog please read bio below.

8/12 Aspen is looking really fit & trim since she came to stay with her foster family.   She loves playing with her foster brother Rific.  She can entertain herself for hours with her tennis ball, but she seems to enjoy loosing it under the furniture.  She enjoys her time outside and again will entertain herself with the tennis or baseball.  She loves to run and get it when you throw it but is not interested in returning for fetch.  She's become quite the barker when outside and she thinks she hears a car door or someone might be walking by, but quiets right down when she  realizes it's nothing!! She is crated during the day when we're all gone.  At this time I would not leave her to roam free when unsupervised.  She goes right in her crate when told "in" and gets her treat along with her rope chew.  At night she sleeps in my daughter's room usually on her bed, but we've had her in our room with her doggie bed and she sleeps on that.  She is a loud snorer!!  So I prefer she's in her bed instead of mine!!  She's quite a cutie just waiting for her forever home.

7/7 Aspen has pretty much settled in with us.  She's toned up alot from playing w/her foster brother Rific.  She loves to run in the yard around the pool and  play chase.  She also loves to dig for the cool dirt and lay in it. She doesn't like to share the toys, which she plays with all of them.  The 2 baskets full are all over the house from her taking them out to play.  She will go into her crate without a fuss now.  Just a gentle leading her by the collar and she goes right in and she is now accustomed to getting a treat.  Before she didn't care about the treat.  Aspen will go for walks and is generally pretty good, but she is frightened by cars and sometimes noises.  I've been working with her on her walks for sometimes pulling and becoming more comfortable/secure.  She is also getting along great with our cat.  Aspen's antics do come out when left alone and unsupervised she will get herself into trouble.  She is a counter surfer (only when you're not around) and will chew shoes (only when you're not around).... even
though she has sooo many toys.  We have learned the hard way that any length of time unsupervised, she needs to go in the crate.  She sleeps in my daughters room with no potty accidents.  However Aspen does pee a lot and if taken out regularly there's no accidents in the house and never in her crate.  But she doesn’t know to ask for the door when she needs to go. She is all boxer wiggles when you come home.  She does not jump on you and is just sooo happy to be with you.  She takes treats with the gentlest mouth.   Has no food aggression.  Aspen loves to be hugged and cuddled.  Aspen would do well by herself or with another dog.

6/15 Aspen is settling in at her foster home. She is entering her crate with a little assistance when guided her by her collar.  She has not spent a night alone yet (not really alone, but would be w/our boxer).  She's been sleeping in one of our bedrooms.  She is having a lot of fun playing w/the basket of dog toys.  But she still loves her tennis ball the most.  She eats fine.  Has no food aggression.  I just arrived back from vet for her visit.  They drew blood and said she was negative for heart worm and lyme.  She does have crystals in her urine which could indicate there was a UTI infection or there is an infection starting.   The crystals could irritate the bladder. She is on an antibiotic for 10 days.  Hopefully that will correct the peeing problem.  Other than that she 67 lbs and healthy.

6/9 Aspen arrived at her foster home on Wednesday.  She is still settling in.  She didn't want to eat at first, but is now eating regularly.  She is a sweet dog that is very friendly.  She has started to play and her favorite thing is to play with a tennis ball all by herself.  She will fetch but does not return it.  She has had no food aggression with our male boxer.  She has adjusted to our cat.  Aspen will do fine with a cat, it just takes some monitoring.  She wants to get too close too soon, but with no aggression signs.  She has not barked yet.  She's even startled when our boxer starts barking.  Watch for more updates as we get to know her more.

Aspen is a gorgeous white female boxer.  She loves other dogs and currently lives with another dog.  She is house broken and crate trained and knows her basic commands. She is a very sweet girl.  Watch for updates as we get to know Aspen.
