7/14 A very happy Bella arrived yesterday. She is a beautiful mahogany-red female, with a bit of a snaggle tooth from an apparent injury to her mouth. She has not been obedience trained, but I was able to teach her the Down command in 5 minutes (hot dogs are a great motivator!), She does it every time I ask her to now. She is housebroken and slept in her crate ( which, BTW, could fit a pony) with very little whining last night, and didn't make a peep this morning. She merely greeted me by standing up and wagging her (butt) tail. She is a little rough with the kitten and my small female poodle, who let her know it. She is a bit fearful when they do. She has not yet warmed up to the Dachshund, who has been anything but warm to her! So far they merely co-exsist when together. She is in No Way food or toy aggressive. Actually, I think her name describes her personality and temperament perfectly! More updates to follow as she settles in. Bella is a gorgeous deep mahogany color. She has a huge amount of energy and not a lot of manners. She is coming into rescue as she is spending too much time home alone and is not getting enough exercise or attention. With a result she is very hyper. Housebroken and crate trained. She is used to a fenced in yard, loves other dogs although she can be a bit too much for some dogs. She currently lives with small children and is good with them although she can occasionally knock little ones over in her excitement.. Bella needs a home where someone will be home more often with her and can provide her with plenty of exercise. Watch for updates once we secure a foster home and get to know her better. |
