Mojo  -  Male Boxer
Requirements for this dog:

Good with other dogs and older kids.  No Cats.

For More information on this dog please read his bio below.

5/19 Mojo is a very agreeable dog, it did not take him very long to adapt to our routine at all. He gets along with all the dogs, from my high energy Boxer, to my older Pug who likes to hang out and be in the group,  but doesn't want to be bothered or harassed. My younger Pug absolutely adores him and follows him everywhere. He somehow knows to be a little gentler with the smaller dogs. Mojo loves to play with the other dogs, but he likes being with people even more. He definitely needs to be with someone who is going to give him lots and lots of attention. I would hate to see him in a family where everyone is running in every direction and no one has time to just spoil him. He is happiest when he can sit or lie beside me with his big head in my lap. If I'm willing to pet him, he'll stay there for hours.  I don't believe that Mojo has had much training at all. He's  housebroken for the most part (although there have been a few accidents) but that's about it. He doesn't even really know the "sit" command -- well, by now he does, because I've been using it with him. Even without the formal training, he has pretty nice manners, he is very sensitive to the tone of voice and very much wants to please. For instance, I've taught  him very quickly to sit and wait until I release him for his dinner. Or if I feel the dog play has escalated too much, he does respond when I call his name. He sleeps in my bedroom and sometimes I let him sleep on  the bed, and sometimes I can't handle all the dogs there, so I ask him to sleep on the dog bed at the foot and he is very good about taking direction about this. Either way, he settles down quickly at bedtime and stays put throughout the night and even while I shower in the morning! Mojo does this weird thing when he eats his meals though. He almost always pees while he's eating or immediately upon finishing, even if he has just been outside. I'm not sure what that is all about, but I've taken to feeding him outside on the deck. He is very good about being  crated and there have been a couple of times where he has had to be crated for about 5 hours and he was ok. Once he barked a little bit when I had crated him and he could still hear me running around the house, but he settled down quickly. I have also left him loose in a room for a few hours, with his crate open. I believe once there was a pee accident (even though he was only alone for an hour or so) but I've seen no other signs of anxiety.  Mojo is still painfully skinny. He has a good appetite, he eats every bite of every meal and is enthusiastic about treats, so I'm hoping that he's gaining slowly and I just can't see the difference because I see  him every day. In any case, he has an appointment with my vet for Wednesday to have his neutering stitches out, so I'm also going to ask her about that.  All-in-all I find Mojo to be a delightful dog. He's generally pretty mello, but I think that he needs a lot of human attention and affection.  He really needs someone to pet him endlessly and love him like crazy.

5/4 Mojo is unbelievably sweet. He’s gentle with my smaller dogs (he’s interested in them, but not too pushy or overwhelming to them), yet he gives the right amount of energetic horse play with Tig (my Boxer) that they both enjoy the experience and are able to fulfill that Boxer playfulness that they need, without it ever getting too aggressive. When not playing, he is completely mellow. He likes to stick close to me, always sticking his big head into my lap, or crawling on top of me to claim my lap for a nap. I don’t think anyone has ever taken the trouble to teach this guy much as the only command he seems to know is “sit”. But this makes me even more impressed with his wonderful good manners. I had thought that bringing another dog into my home would make this place even more chaotic. But to be honest, I believe the opposite is true with Mojo here. He seems to be lending a nice, calm energy to the other dogs. Tig is no longer chasing Fitz (my boy Pug) in laps around the house, nor is he any longer baiting Lola (my girl Pug). He seems completely fulfilled by having another Boxer around, and the calm energy of Mojo seems to be rubbing off on him as well. I had worried that he might be a little jealous, but I really think he is whole-heartedly enjoying Mojo has a member of the pack. Even Lola seems happier as she now no longer becomes the focus of the other dogs when play escalates. Although, I suspect part of Fitz misses being chased a little bit. I was of the mind that three dogs was my limit, but this happy circumstance is causing me to re-think that idea. I’m wondering if another Boxer (at least one with the same temperament and energy level as Mojo) might actually be a great situation for us after all. In any case, Mojo is doing wonderfully. He already seems quite happy and he has relaxed quite a bit from his first uneasy night. He is pretty skinny, so I’m hoping some good quality food (and plenty of it) and lots of treats will fill him out to where he should be.
So, Mojo is doing very well so far!

This gorgeous looking boy is Mojo.  He is coming to us from a local shelter where his family surrendered him as he was too much dog for them.  He is a very active male boxer who needs lots of exercise.  He has lived with kids from toddlers to 10 years old but due to his energy level he would be best not placed with very small kids.  He is good with other dogs and lived with a female boxer in his previous home.  Mojo will be neutered this week and will be off to his foster home at the weekend.  Housebroken and crate trained.

Watch for updates as his foster home gets to know him.
