5/14 Hello from Sophie!

Just wanted to say Hi and to let everyone know I'm a great little girl and I'm getting better and better with each day.

Here's a description of a typical day for me.  I get up around 5:30 am, I'm an early riser. My foster family lets me out and I go into my crate for another hour of sleep.  It's really the only time of day that I'm in my crate.  When everyone finally gets up I'm super happy.  So happy, in fact, that I can't stop my wiggles!  Then it's outside for potty and then breakfast - wohoo!  I'm a very good eater, no trouble at all, and I like all types of treats.  Then we're off for our walks -yeah!  If your looking for a running/walking partner I'm your girl.  I can keep up with you for miles with no problem.  My foster mom walks me and my two foster brothers 3 times a day and I still have energy to play when we get home.  I do have to admit I get very distracted by small animals (ie squirrels) on my walks and my foster mom needs to hold on tight to my leash or that squirrel will be a snack!  When my foster mom leaves for work I'm allowed to free foam with my foster brothers.  We mostly nap and I cuddle with the "boys" until my foster skin brother comes home at 2:30. The kid lets me and the "boys" outside and then we play until mom comes back and then - guess what?!  It's more walking!  Then a little dinner, a little more playing and then I just hang out with the family until bed time.  I sleep with the "boys" in the living room, I love to cuddle right up tight with them- I think they like it too! That's my day- not a bad routine!

My foster mom says I'm such a good girl because I've had no accidents and I done no destruction in the house. My foster mom has helped with my shyness and I'm getting much better with adults, I'm just a little shy at first but then follow what my foster mom and foster brothers do and I'm fine.  I absolutely love other dogs and I really like kids a lot.  I don't often give out kisses but yesterday I met a little kid I just loved and I gave her two quick little kisses.  My foster mom was jealous!  All from me for now - All my love -Sophie

4/27 Sophie is adjusting great to her new foster home.  She is, of course, cute as a button and a very happy little girl.  She has two boxer brothers whom she adores. She is a follower and uses the boys to gauge her situation.  For example, if someone comes over she'll see if the boys are OK with our guest before she'll even attempt a sniff.  Sophie can be extremely shy but once you make an introduction she'll be your best friend.  She thinks my son and his friends are great fun and we're slowly working on more introductions.  She has figured out the schedule of our household and has made herself very comfortable enjoying the long walks (both am and pm), playing in the yard and wrestling with my boys.  She is fast as lightening and I have to be very careful that she doesn't get loose so we leash her in the house and she stays leashed while in the yard.  Overall, this is one sweet and lovable little peanut and she has the softest fur.

3/12 Hello from Sophieville. I am still the best little girl there is. I love life and I am full of energy and love. My foster parents have spoiled me so much. They just love me so much and my foster brother and I get along super fine. He is the greatest. Everyday we go for ride or two down to the beach. Jim lets us run and run the beach. Cassius and I just love doing this. We have tested the water a little still a little to cold though. I am so happy to be alive and with my foster parents but I would really really like my forever home. I am waiting for you but my foster mom says I can stay as along as I need to. The last time it snowed Cassius and I played outside in the snow. I had so much fun. Love Sophie

2/27 Hi it is just me again Sophie. I just want everyone to know just how great I am. I am obedient, leash trained, potty trained, crate trained and most  of all I am full of life. I am very loving and beautiful boxer girl. My  foster parents love having me with them but when you are ready to give me a  forever home I am yours.

2/22 Sophie is a very very happy little girl. Jim and I have watched her grow to such a wonderful wonderful pet. Sophie just loves sleeping in her crate as a matter of fact she likes to go in and out of it during the day. I think she loves the comfort it offers her. Sophie and Cassius play most of the day. It is so much fun to watch the two of them. Sophie will make her new owner very happy. Sophie is a love. Hey guys I am ready for my new home. Sophie

2/15 Sophie is doing so well. Sophie has not had any accidents at all. I knew she could do it. Jim and I have been walking her 2-3 times a day with the leash and she has come a very long way with this. Jim brings the kids to the beach every day except when it is raining. Jim takes them for a ride on rainy days and they just love it. When the kids are at the beach they can run and run. Sophie comes when called and she has learned some more commands. Sophie is a very smart cookie. Sophie is high energy, she will need to be walked or be able to run. Sophie sleeps all night, eats very well and poses no problems for us at all. Sophie loves to sit on Jim's lap and cuddle up. Sophie gets excited when I get home and I get boxer kisses and wiggle butt. Sophie is just so precious. Sophie is ready for her forever home.

2/6 Sophie has been in her foster home for nearly three weeks now. This little girl is such a joy. Sophie loves to play with her ball and of course our Cassius. These two kids get along just fine. Sophie would be great in a home with another dog. We are still working on Sophie's accidents (pee pee), just a few minutes ago she came over to me and I asked her if she needed to go outside and she went right for the back door. Sophie is getting there. The leash training is still an issue. Sophie is progressing slowly in this area. Every now and then I see a little improvement. I know that she will get this she is a very smart girly girl. Sophie has put on a few pounds and she looks just great. Sophie is still showing signs of shyness even with us. Sophie jumps up at the slightest noise she hears. When I take her out just before bed she is afraid of any moving object even leaves. We will keep working on this great girl and soon she will be ready for her forever home.

1/23 Sophie is just gorgeous. Sophie arrived at Sonny Acres (this is what my kids call our house) On January 22 about 5:00pm. I was not here when she arrived. My husband and Donna could not believe just how great my boy Cassius was with this wonderful girl. It was love at first sight. I came home shortly thereafter and both of the kids were standing at the back door to greet me. Sophie seemed a little reluctant at first but when I talked to her she came right over to me. At this time she was already giving my Jim boxer kisses. Needless to say I was jealous.  Jim and I decided to give her a shower. Sophie did not want to go downstairs but as Cassius did she followed him right down. I had to lift her to get her into the walk in shower. Once Sophie was in she really enjoyed her bath. I have a hand held spray and she was not afraid at all. Sophie just looks so happy to be here. These 2 kids are so good together. Jim and I are very happy to help this little girl out. Bedtime was great. I have a king size bed and the three of us (me Cassius and Sophie) slept together. I always have to get up during the night, needless to say so did the kids. They both started playing and having a great time. After 1/2 hour I told both of them lights out. Well they both took their squeaky toys to bed with them, and I heard the squeaks for about 45 minutes. Sophie had a little accident this morning, other than this she had been going outside with Cassius. Sophie is eating like a trooper, she shares all toys with Cassius. We have noticed no aggression at all. Both her and Cassius loved to watch the squirrels and birds outside. I have a glass room and they love to be in there. So far Sophie listens ok. Jim took the kids down to the beach today, The report is she will need more leash training which we will continue to do. Sophie is very comfortable here. Jim told me that at first she did not want to get in the car to go to the beach. Once in she rides great and then he had a hard time to get her back in. I think that she thought she was going away again. We will work on this with her. Sophie will make someone a great pet (as I call them kids) she just needs to calm down a bit. My girlfriend came over today and Sophie ran from her at first then after a while she went over and kissed her hand. Right now Jim is playing with both of them and they love it. Sophie likes to counter surf but when I say no she gets right down. Sophie is enjoying herself and she has made our house a home.

Sophie is a very sweet shy female boxer who is at a local shelter.  She is very stressed and afraid at the shelter and we need to get her into a foster home ASAP. She is good with other dogs.  Housebroken and crate trained.   She knows some basic commands.

Watch for updates once we secure a foster home and get to know Sophie.
