7/7 Hi everyone.  I thought I would give you my 3 week update and Input. I have settled in nicely and made myself right at home.  The humans continue to entertain me. They are still waving their arms at me frantically when I jump up on the counter and scratch at the doors to try and open them.  I have discovered where they stash the cookies and the toys.  I am now convinced that I am in a fat farm rehab.  They continue to torture me with 3 walks a day and LOW FAT FOOD and treats.  They say I need to loose at least 7 lbs and that it’s for my own good “health wise”….For the love of GOD make it stop!   I checked myself in the mirror the other day and I must say, my wiggle Butt is a little thinner and I am looking’ good!  My foster mom say’s I’m the New HOT Chic in the Hood.  Everyone stops and comments on how beautiful I am.  I am starting to get along great with my foster brother.  He can be a little obnoxious in the mornings.  He wakes me up with kisses and they runs down the hall going 90 miles an hour and body slams me when I’m not looking.  I’m not sure if he realizes that I am deaf yet.  I am so on to him now, I hide behind the ½ wall around the corner and just as he’s about to turn the corner, I slam him with my paw and let him know he’s obnoxious behavior is unacceptable, especially in the morning.  He immediately stops and kisses me to say he’s sorry.  I am doing great with the commands the humans give me.  I sit before I go out and enter the house.  I wait for my food and I am excellent to walk with.  We are working on hand signals and I must say we are doing well communicating except for the down command.  This is the hardest one for the humans to do with me, as I am NOT GETTING IT.  Down…Why????  The lady human is my buddy, I love to follow her around and be with her.  I think I make her laugh.     Keep watching for updates!  Bark at you later!  Luv, Treasure

6/26 Hi everyone.  It’s me, Treasure.   My foster parents asked me to give you a quick update.  It’s been a little over a week now and I think I am settling in nicely.  I stopped barking and whining and I have no issues going into my crate.  My foster parents are funny. When I jump up on the counter looking for food, I look over at them and see them waving their arms at me frantically.  I’m guessing they do not like me up on the counter; but because I am deaf, I need to learn what they are asking of me.  Once I see them waving to me, I get right down.  I love belly rubs and love to kiss and hug all humans.   My foster brother is slowly getting use to me and will give me a kiss once and a while.  He is great to walk with and I have learned so much from him on our walks.  My foster parents think I need to loose a few pounds.  Quite frankly, I think I am looking pretty good, I love to look at myself in the mirror and I even kiss my own reflection.  They have put me on a diet and give me three good walks a day.  I’m starting to wonder if they enrolled me in a “fat farm” rehab home instead of a foster home!   Good thing I enjoy those walks.  I am bound to shed a few pounds over the next few weeks and get that girly figure back.  I love to chase lights, flashlights and shadows.  My foster parents think I can be a little too excited with this, so they are working on this with me.  For the most part, I am a big love bug and adore all humans and I am waiting for my foster brother to completely come around with me so I can play with him.    My foster parents say I am no trouble at all and it is a pleasure having me in the house.   Stay tuned for more updated on me.   Bark at you later!  Luv, Treasure

6/19 Treasure has made it to her foster home. She was very stressed and exhausted last night and we are slowly introducing her to our resident dog, as he is as stressed over her as she is him. I’m sure they will be fine in a few days or so. She is a big sweetheart and loves to be with people.  She has a tendency to bark a little when you are not in her site, but this could be because everything is so new to her.  I am working with her on trying to find out what signs she knows, if any. She seems to look more at the lower leg movement of a person, VS eye contact, so I will work on the eye contact with her over the next few days and try and find out what “signs” she might know. I did discover that she can sit (not great) but does it. She gives paw and then “other” paw. She seems to be ok with the crate – no issues there and goes right in. She will cry and whine a little, but then settles down. She immediately jumped on our couch and likes to jump up on humans, so I am working on her manners as well as her leash walk. She does need to loose a little weight (7 or so lbs) so I will put her on a diet and get her exercised properly. All and all, she is a fantastic girl that just needs a little love and guidance. More to come as she starts to settle in.

Treasure is a deaf white female that is coming to us from a local shelter.  This girl certainly is a treasure; she is very sweet and friendly.  Has lived with kids and other dogs in the past.  We do not believe she is crate trained but we will work on that in her foster home, she is housebroken.  She saw our vet today who brought her up to date on all her vaccinations and she tested negative for heart worms.  Treasure has an abscess on her chest as a result of a bite wound from another dog that is being treated also and this should heal in time.

Treasure is a little overweight but with a good healthy diet and exercise she will get her girly figure back in no time.
