Pappy 1 Year Old Neutered Male Boxer (possible mix), Good with Other Dogs, Housebroken, Crate Trained 2/1 - Pappy is a goofy puppy. He gets
along well with other dogs, we are unsure about cats. Due to his age, we would
prefer a home that is not gone a full work day. Pappy is a big boy and is due
for some obedience training. 1/8 - Pappy is at his new foster home and doing great. He is getting along great with the resident male boxer. Pappy is a big boy that needs an owner willing to do some obedience training. He is still very young and needs guidance. Due to his age, we would prefer Pappy go to a home with someone that’s home more often than not and a home with another dog to help burn off some of his puppy energy. We do not know how Pappy is with cats as he has no history so a home with no cats is a must. 12/18 - Pappy is coming back into rescue as his owner has moved to a home where she cannot keep him. Pappy is now a little over a year old and weights about 90 LBS. 7/17 - Pappy aka Dozer has been with us just a few short days but he is settling in nicely at his foster home. He has been cat tested and would do fine with a dog savvy cat, but may be too much for a trusting cat with his pouncing and nibbling he does when playing. He will do well with older children as he seems to jump on adults but so far not on kids and I have a 6 year old and 10 year old which he pays no mind to.
Dozer is going to be very big
when grown judging by the size of his paws therefore we feel it is possible
that Dozer is not 100% boxer, he could possibly be part American Bulldog.
Whatever the mix he is extremely gorgeous. He loves leash walks and only pulls
when he sees people or animals, so that will have to be worked on by a
dedicated owner. He does know some basic commands such as sit and stay, but
when in play it is hard to get his attention. He sleeps in his crate quietly
at night and has been crated for short periods during the day also just to
keep him from any mischief he may cause but so far no chewing or going to the
bathroom in the house when left out.
We have nick named him Dozer
because he really acts like a bulldozer plowing through things, just another
thing we are working on in the foster home. He loves water and got the chance
to visit a lake this weekend and had such a great time playing!
He would do OK as an only dog
as he seems to be more into pleasing his owner, but if there is another dog in
his new adoptive home it must have a similar energy level and be tolerant to
his very mouthy play. Keep an eye out for more updates as we make progress
with this wonderful pup. He will make a very loyal companion to someone as he
loves to be challenged and seems very willing to learn new things.
This cute guy is Big Pappy who is approximately 8 months old. He is the sweetest thing who just wants to play and give kisses. Pappy has his natural tail, and he still has lots of growing to do to fill those big paws of his so he is going to be a big boy that will require lots of exercise and obedience training, and would probably do best with an experienced dog owner. He loves other dogs but has no history with kids or cats. Pappy is house broken and crate trained but needs to learn some basic manners like all puppies do, like not to jump up on people and he needs to learn how to walk nicely on a leash. Watch for up dates as we get to know this cute boy.
