Bruin -  Female Boxer

Requirements for this dog:

Needs a home where some is home more often than not

For more information on this dog read her bio below.

Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for her while she is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.

4/28 Bruin is doing great. She loves to run and play in the yard and barks to let me know if someone is here, But calms down right away when I let them in. She has made a lot of progress in jumping up, and hardly jumps on people at all. She is also good about the gate now, she sits and waits while i go in and out. We stopped at the vet yesterday for hart worm meds and got on the scale, she is now up to 58.5 pounds and just looks great. She has no housebreaking issues and I have left her for 6 hours. She is going to make someone a wonderful companion.

3/26 Well Bruin has been with us for 5 weeks now and is just doing great. She is very good at home and gives you a nudge when she wants to go out. When I go out she goes right in her crate when I ask her, and has been left in the crate for 6 hours with no problems. We made a few stops on Easter, she enjoyed playing with the Kids at the Easter egg hunt wiggles and kisses. She was good during dinner and played with her ball while we ate, and was good with everyone she meet. She hasn't had an accident since the first few days she was here.

3/16 Bruin is doing very well. She went to the vet again last week and all is well they found no problems with her. She also gained 5 pounds that she really needed. She sleeps through the night and  waits until I'm up and about to go out in the morning. She now goes into her crate easily and is very calm when I leave. I have left her for up to five hours and she has been fine. She calmly waits for me to let her out.  She does like to jump up on people and she will bolt out of the gate in the yard  if given an opportunity, but were working on that too. She is a very sweet girl and well behaved.

2/25 Well its been a week now and Bruin is doing well. She is getting used to the crate now and eats all her meals in it. I have been able to leave her for a few hours at a time with no issues. She has only had two accidents in the house, both were in the first three days and first thing in the morning. I got her a nice dog bed and now she has been staying asleep until I have time to get up and let her out. She is very active and loves playing with Sarge.

2/17 Bruin is settled in. She was good in the car on the way home. She doesn't like getting in, but once in she is fine. The first 1 1/2 hours were a bit tense with her and Sarge. She is a dominant girl, but after that they were running around the yard together. I think its been a while since she has run around free and she is really enjoying it. They both ate, one on each side of the room and there were no problems. no aggression it went well.  She had some trouble settling down did a lot of circling around the room, down for a few minutes and back up again, but eventually found a spot and stayed for a while. Same thing at bed time, around and around then just sat and watched me for a long time before settling on the rug at the end of the bed. She has been fine as fare as accidents, none yet, although I did send them out more than I usually would. She slept all night ready to go out when I got up. Today has gone well, went for a ride in the truck they were great one on each side of the back seat looking out the window. Spent a lot of time out side today and she got a work out keeping up with my boy. Still a bit of tension now and then when she tries to be to dominant, but just a aggressive bark from Sarge and she backs off. I think all of that will be gone soon, we will see. She's curled up in a ball now taking a well deserved nap. I attached a few new pics. So all is well, talk to you soon.

Bruin is a gorgeous female boxer who found herself in a shelter because her last owners were having issues housebreaking her.  She will need a home where someone is home a lot and has time to work on her housebreaking and can be consistent with her.  She is very sweet, she is a dominate female but seems to be fine with other dogs and like to play so she would be best placed as an only dog or with a submissive male.  She is a very playful, active and loving girl.

Bruin is still at a local shelter which is not a good environment to help with her housebreaking issues so we need to get her into a foster home ASAP.
