Chloe

1 Year Old Female, Housebroken & Crate Trained, Needs to be Placed with a Male Dog

Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for her while she is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.

4/22 Chloe is quite the character and is always cracking us up. She can be very fresh, sometimes playfully barking at us when we are trying
to correct an undesirable behavior. She will then act like a total goof, running like a mad woman, doing crazy flips, then slamming on
the breaks. She could just be getting rid of some cabin fever after being indoors so much with all the rain. She continues to have
accidents almost daily, which we believe was exacerbated by the rainy weather. The effort needed to clean up after her is minimal and
worth her companionship. Chloe's listening skills continue to improve. She enthusiastically comes on command and is also learning
that stealing food from children is not very lady-like. She is a very bright girl.

4/14 Chloe continues to win our hearts. She is so affectionate and tolerates a lot of toddler hugs and tugs without batting a pretty
eyelash. She is confusing us a little as far as her bathroom habits. There will be some days where she has an accident and others
when she does not. We are keeping a log now to see if we can get a handle on it. We are home most of the time. If she is alone, it is
for no more than 3 hours. Sometimes accidents occur during that brief window or during the night. But again, it is not everyday.
She is excellent about using the crate. We could put her in there when we leave for those few hours, but it has not reached the point
where we want to do that. She is not destructive (unless you leave food on the counters!!) when left to roam free for that time. She's
a great girl.

I think Chloe would do best in a home where someone is home for most of the day. She also enjoys the company of a male dog. As a young
girl, she has a lot of energy and enjoys going for long walks and playing with her foster bro until they collapse.

4/8 - We have had the pleasure of fostering Chloe for about a week now.   What a love!  She adores our 8 year old male dog and tries to get him to play a lot more than he wants to/can.  Our dog has a dominant personality and Chloe has no problem with her standing.  Chloe is  about a year old and enjoys playing and romping very much.  She is quite a leaper although is not capable of jumping the 4 ft fence,  yet!  On walks, Chloe is very curious/nervous about horses.  She also did not seem as if she was going to play nice with a dog that we often see on our walks, and he is a submissive little thing.   Although I was curious to see how it would have played out, as this seems to be out of character for her, I did not let her off-leash to find out!

She pulls like crazy on leash.  I bought a Gentle Leader harness and now our walks are very enjoyable.  She has a good
knowledge of basic commands: sit, come, off.  She needs some work on begging and counter surfing.  In the short time with us, she has only had a few accidents.

Chloe is fantastic with our four years old girls and all people she has come across.  She loves to be touching you at all
times and is happiest when on someone's lap.  She is quite an endearing, happy-go-lucky girl

2/21 - After several tests our vet now suspects "pyelonephritis" which is a chronic inflammation of the kidney, secondary to infection.  Most likely, she has a genetic kidney deformity that pre-disposes her to this condition.  Chloe will be on antibiotics for a total of EIGHT weeks now, after that course of antibiotics we'll know more.  Chloe has been doing great while on the antibiotics with hardly any accidents at her foster home.

1/22 Chloe is coming back to rescue as she has been having some health issues which are causing her to have accidents in the house.  She appears to have a bad UTI but we will know more later this week when she sees our vet.  Chloe will need a home with someone who is home a lot as she is still very much a puppy, she enjoys the company of the other dog in her current home so a boxer brother to play with and help burn off that puppy energy would be great.  Chloe is very playful and active and would not be good with very small kids.

Meet Chloe !! This bundle of cuteness is only 6 months old.  She is housebroken but being a pup may still have the occasional accident and will need someone who is home most of the time as puppies need regular potty breaks.  She is also crate trained.  She loves other dogs and might like a boxer brother to play with also in her new home.

Watch for updates as we get to know Chloe.
