Dozer
15 Month Old Neutered Male Boxer, Good with Other Dogs and Cats, Housebroken & Crate Trained Dear Santa,
It's me, Dozer!! I am living in a foster home right now. I just wanted to make sure you know where to find me. The only thing I would like for Christmas is a forever home! I have been such a good boy! My foster mom took some pictures of me in my Santa hat. Don’t I look adorable?? I promise that I will not chase the reindeers away and that I will even help you put presents under the tree! I have even been practicing pretending to be an elf!
I have been having a good time at my foster home. My foster sister is a brat and when she was scolded the other day and told to “go to your bed,” I went to mine too, even though I was being a good boy! I like to chase the cats, which doesn’t make the cats very happy, so make sure you get them some extra nice presents this year, ok? I also have trouble coming when I’m called sometimes, especially if I’m in a WIDE OPEN area or if I’m having a good time. My foster parents have been working on my recall and it’s sort of fun! One of them calls my name – “Dozer, come!” – and when I go to them, they get all excited and give me lots of pats and kisses and sometimes treats, and then the other one of them does it too. I am getting better!
I am well-behaved outside of my crate and I hardly ever am put in there unless my foster family all has to leave the house for more than a couple of hours, and the only reason I have to be in my crate is so that the cats don’t have to worry about being chased by me. I don’t want to hurt them, I just want to play with them. They look so small and cuddly! I have been learning a new command - "NO kitties" and I'm slowly catching on.
My foster mom says I am such a good boy that she wishes she could have THREE dogs! I know there are lots of doggies on the website, and I wish you could give all of us Boxer Buddies new homes for Christmas!
Love, Dozer
11/24 - Hi folks, Dozer here!! My foster mom is pooped from the holiday, so I am sneaking online to tell you all how things are going after my first two weeks. The first weekend I was here, my foster family took me and my foster siblings to a dog park. My foster mom had to meet another Boxer doggie there and thought it would also be a good way to see how I am around a group of dogs. She was soooo proud of me and told me what a good, good boy I was!! I'm a pretty happy-go-lucky guy - I don't like to cause trouble and if someone tries to make trouble with me, I just shake my tail so they know I just wanna be friends...and if they still don't wanna hang with me, I just turn the other cheek and find some other pals to play with.
Last weekend we got
in the Jeep and went for a long ride. We met another family and their big
Rottweiler and as soon as my foster brother and sister saw him, they
started telling me that meant we were going to Callahan Park. I have no
clue what that meant, I figured I was going to meet my new forever family
there or something. My foster folks said I probably won't be able to go
there again because I spent most of my time trying to find who my people
were and wanted to meet everyone, and I didn't want to come right
away when they called me. I love my foster family, but I know that
my FOREVER family is out there somewhere. My foster dad said we have to
work on my "recall" whatever the heck that is. I guess my forever home
really should have a fence so I don't run off.
I have a crate, but I
don't go in it very much, only when nobody is home, or for timeout when
I'm naughty (only one time so far! I saw a cushion button on the couch
when the doggie blanket was taken off to be washed and I was scratching at
the button because I wanted a closer look!). I whine a bit in my crate,
but I'm getting better about it, since I'm not in my crate as long as I
used to be.
My foster mom says
I'm a real sweetie! She said that my forever family is going to be very,
very lucky because I am so well-behaved. I am a handsome boy (I know this
because my foster folks are always telling me!) and love to give kisses.
I get along great with my foster brother and sister and yesterday when
there were lots of people in the house, my foster mom says I was very very
good! My foster sister had to stay in the den with a baby gate for almost
the whole time, but not me!! I was such a good boy that I got to come out
with my foster brother and play with the kids!
I know my forever home is out there somewhere! My
foster mom says if she could keep three dogs, I would be staying!
11/11 - After the first full day and second night of Dozer's being here, things have settled down REMARKABLY. By last night, it was as if he's been here forever. Everyone's getting along great. He does seem very curious about the cats and wants to chase them, but he doesn't try to break down the baby gate to get at them like Brutus did, so it's not a problem. We took him to the dog park in Barrington today and he was absolutely perfect with the people and the other dogs there as well as the kids. He rides great in the Jeep although he still can't really figure out how to get in and we have to help him out. Hopefully he'll learn from his foster brother and sister. This gorgeous boy is Dozer. What a wonderful boy he is, very friendly and full of boxer wiggles. Dozer loves other dogs and he also loves kids. He might like a fur brother or sister in his forever home as he is an energetic boy like all young boxers and would enjoy the company. Watch for updates as he settles into his
foster home.
