Grim  -  Male Boxer

Requirements for this dog:

Good with other dogs and kids

For More information on this dog please read his bio below.

Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for him while he is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.

3/3 Graham's hair is coming in really nicely.  Our Vet was very impressed with his progress, and after the next dip we can consider his neuter.  They also went on and on about how sweet he is, and even entered it into their computer log about him.  His bump between his toes hasn't improved yet, so we are still watching that, but they found another little bump on his head which was also benign.  Said something about it was fairly common in young boxers, especially those who had skin issues.  They are watching his foot until next week, and he will continue with the antibiotics.

He really is the sweetest dog ever.  What a snuggler!  And our 3 year old loves him, except that he kisses her too much sometimes.  Our dogs love him too, and they all snuggle together and kiss.  He particularly likes to clean out Suzi's ears, and she just looks like she's in heaven while he's doing it.  He also has become much more playful, with both humans and other dogs.  It is so nice to see his personality coming out, especially since he's so sweet and is finally starting to act like a young boxer.

2/8 Grim's skin scraping showed NO MITES AT ALL!!!  YIPPEEE!  He will have one dip today, and 1 dip per week for the next 3 weeks and then he'll be DONE!  He can be scheduled for his neuter and will be ready for his forever home.

2/7 Graham (aka Grim) is doing great, although his progress is slow in terms of getting new hair.  He's had another dip and shampoo, and is done with all of his medications.  The vet wants him back in another week to see about his progress before he can be neutered.  He's got pretty deep eyes, and they get gook in them sometimes, which he tries to fix by rubbing his face all over any surface he can find, including your leg, LOL.  He's gained a few pounds, and is starting to play, although he still seems like he needs a lot of rest for a 1 year old.

Personality-wise he is the best!  He still has some housetraining to do, but is otherwise a fabulous boy!  He's great with our dogs, GREAT and incredibly patient with our three year old, and a REAL snuggler! He doesn't like to be outside in the cold or the rain AT ALL, and will sometimes refuse to go out or simply refuse to go off the porch.  The poor thing must be extra sensitive to temperatures since he still doesn't have most of his hair.  He's also quite goofy, really food oriented, and will "talk" to you if you don't get the grub out fast enough once you're started.  I think he's quite smart- learned the house routine very quickly, has learned sit and stay, which he didn't have before, and clearly understands his place in the social hierarchy, accepting without a challenge.  He likes to grab things like gloves or stuffed animals and just carry them around, but understands and responds to "drop it" beautifully.  He is eager to please and loves attention, but is still a little head shy and it's better if he initiates contact.  He loves to have the other dogs around, and clearly has learned from them.  I think he'd be happiest with another dog in the house for company, and we may still see more play as he gets physically better and better.

1/21 Grim has arrived at his foster home.  What a sweetheart. Gets along great with our dogs, who seem to sense that he is not all that well and tread lightly around him.  He's great with our toddler Naiya, too.  He seemed so lost when he first came, and couldn't get comfortable no matter what.  We gave him a fleece doggie coat, kept him warm with a blanket whenever we could, and he's coming in to his own.  Fine in the house, and we haven't had to crate him yet as we have been here since he got here.  Follows me around like he's known me forever, and what a snuggler!  He's also very food oriented, and about 5-10 lbs underweight, so we feed him high quality food, often.  Poor thing is on four different pills, but he scarfs it up with his food like it's just another ingredient.  Hard to believe that he is only one year old as he is very low key and doesn't play at all yet.  Maybe it's his medicine, or maybe he just doesn't have any energy considering what he's been through.  We have to bring him for a shampoo and dip once a week, continue his medicine until finished, and put some weight on him, and maybe then we'll see a more typical one year old.  However, for now he is the easiest foster we've had in terms of behavior, and a sweeter dog was never born, including my own.

Grim is a very sweet male boxer, as you can see from the photos he has a very bad case of Demodex Mange.  He has lost most of his fur due to this and is very uncomfortable at the moment but despite this he is still very sweet and friendly.  Grim is at our vet at the moment to start treatment and then he will be off to his foster home.   He has lived with kids and is great with them he is also great with other dogs, he is crate trained and housebroken.

Watch for updates as we get to know Grim.
