Max

4 Year Old Male Boxer, OK with Other Dogs, Housebroken, No History with Cats

Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for her while she is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.

4/14 Max is back from his surgery and doing well. He is quite agile on his three legs and doesn't have any trouble getting down our 3 stairs to go outside. In fact, we have a hard time keeping him from coming up and down our staircase to the second floor. He doesn't seem to know he's supposed to be recovering! He tries to jump on us when we come in the door or let him out of the crate. Earlier this morning was teasing Brandy to try to get her to wrestle! So we're doing our best to keep him quiet so his leg can heal properly.

He and Brandy are hanging in there. The only issue we still have is around toys. A few times, they've wanted the same toy and gotten into a fight over it. The hard thing is that neither of them will back down when that happens... So we'll see how that goes

4/9 Max has arrived. So far things are okay. We started out with him separated from my female boxer but after about half an hour Max leapt over the gate. I wasn't sure how Brandy would react, even though their through-the-gate interactions had been fine, but, other than some curiosity, Brandy was fine. We did have had a couple of minor incidents between them.

We went for a walk this morning and he did really well on a harness and leash. He didn't pull at all. He is very people friendly and came into  our room a few times last night all ready to play! LOL. He was not pleased when I left today and put him in his crate.

Max is a 4 year old neutered male.   He has a torn ACL which will require surgery.   He has been a little standoffish with other dogs at the shelter but not aggressive so he would probably do best as an only dog or in a home with only 1 other dog, preferably female. He has never lived with other dogs.

He loves EVERYONE. Sweet sweet sweet and such a mush. He needs to lose a few pounds but I’m sure not being able to really use his leg for the PAST YEAR!!! Doesn’t help!

Max is currently in a local shelter, he really needs a foster home pretty quickly so he can get this surgery done!!
