6/11 Hi, it's Oliver again... so I'm in the spotlight, just where I LOVE to be.  I am not sure why I have been waiting for so long for a forever home to call my own, as I am a great boxer boy.  I am healthy and I love to eat. I love chasing the family cat and any girl dogs in the neighborhood.  Mom says I need to be careful around the boy dogs because I seem to have a dominance problem with the other boy dogs.  I love to have human company,  I'll jump on anyone and give kisses, I don't discriminate. Now that it's summertime, I get to be outside more and take longer walks, which is great since running outside and napping are my two favorite activities! I don't get to sleep on the bed, but I am just as happy making the couch my own. So, now that you've read a little about me and think I'm just the cutest most wonderful guy, (I really am, too!) please open your heart and home and come adopt me.  I'd make a great family dog.

6/3 Um, hello... It's Oliver... my foster mom said I had to tell you a little about what I've been up to lately, so here goes:  I love to eat, but my lady only lets me eat my all-natural dog food twice a day (she's no fun). I love to chase the cat, even though my foster mom doesn't like me to.  The kitty has been hissing at me and putting me in my place a lot lately, though, so it hasn't been as much fun.  I've found other playmates, though.  I have 2 girlfriends in the neighborhood that my foster mom lets me play with.  Sage lives across the street and we play, chase and pounce on each other.  My other girlfriend, Abbey, lives in the house in back of ours and she's a lot bigger than I am, so she likes to put me in my place like the cat does.  I still am having a hard time getting along with the other boy dogs in the neighborhood. Foster mom has been really good at protecting me lately from those bullies who try to gang up on me.  When we walk, they try to come out of their yards to meet me, but foster mom sends them away.  I'm still learning the "no jumping on people when they first come through the door" rule.  It's not easy because I'm so excited to see visitors.  Sheesh.  Let's see, what else?  I still love car rides and have decided that the back seat is all mine and that I can shmoosh the back windows all I want. I haven't figure out the water at the lake yet.  The waves scare me a bit and I find myself barking at them as they come in off the boats.  Also, frogs have me completely bewildered... they make very funny noises that startle me and I just don't understand the jumping thing.  I think that's all for now... back to my nap on the couch.  *Kisses & butt wiggles*  Oliver

2/27 Oliver has been doing extremely well these last couple of weeks.  He is at a comfortable 69 pounds... with a bit more exercise he will maintain a happy 65.  He went to the vets on Saturday and was incredibly well behaved.  His shots were updated and he got some ear drops for itchie ears with very little trouble.  All it took was lots of patience, attention and cookies.  Other than that he is in great health.  His car riding skills are still very good.  He understands that the back seat is his versus sitting in my lap in front and LOVES drive-throughs.  He loves people company and anytime someone comes in, he gets extremely excited, wiggles, and shows off his toys.  We are still working on jumping up on people when they walk in.  That habit is proving difficult to break. He and the cat continue on their journey to living peacefully.  The cat likes to tease him and jumps over the baby gate now and then just to show she's not scared.  They are too funny together. Oliver wants to play with her like one of his toys.  He finds it very fun and entertaining to chase her... the cat not so much fun to her.  That's it for now from Oliver Land..... more soon.

1/21 Well, we are still working on he and the cat living together.  They had a meeting in the bathroom today, as she is now jumping over the baby gate on her own feeling more comfortable.  He cornered her, however after telling him no kitty and her growling and hissing at him, he turned and walked away whining because you know he wanted to play with her.  LOL. He is very used to his routine now of morning tinkle, breakfast, walk and then the same when I come home in the evening.  He spends his time in his crate, which with a little peanut butter in his kong, his bone and his squeekie, he is good to go. He continues to be protective of the house and barks to alert me of anyone approaching.  Oliver adores the snow and loves to stick his face in snowbanks and eat the snow! He is also doing well with passing other dogs on our walks.  As long as I have him on the opposite side of me with the leash close to me, we continue walking and though he whines, he is fine once we pass.  I strongly suggest is harness instead of his collar when walking, as he is quite the houdini wiggling out of his collar especially with other dogs around.  He knows that when I grab the harness he is going for his walk, so he happily sits and lets me strap him in. He loves to play with his squeekie toys and is now content to sleep in the living room while I am in bed at night.  He wakes me up with a whine or a bark if he has to go out earlier than my alarm.  He knows his sit command, however we are still working on not allowing him to beg while we eat.  He's also learned "ride" and gets very excited if you ask him if he'd like to go.  He has gotten much better in the car, and he no longer forces his way into the front seat.  Instead he understands that he is in the back and occasionally sticks his head between the seats to get some attention.  So much safer!  That's about it from the home front on Oliver.  He is such a great dog!!!!!!!!!!!

1/5 Oliver continues to do well at his foster home. Last night was a very good night.  I came home (after not being able to get Oliver in his crate when I left for work) to a perfectly fine dog who was extremely excited to see me but not destructive at all.  Last night he and I had a good run down the road.  He would make someone a wonderful running companion.  We played in the snow for a bit, he ate as usual, and I set his crate up in the living room, thinking we would work on the “enjoyment” factor.  I went to the kitchen to get something and left him with toys in and around the crate, as well as a bone and chew.  When I came back in, he was laying in the crate, happily chewing on his bone.  He fell asleep in it and so I left him there and went to bed with him sleeping, but the crate door open.  He woke me up this morning to pee and had moved to the couch (I’m fine with that). He went out, ate and played for a bit.  Then I put his kong with peanut butter  in his crate and he didn’t even notice me leave. All is going well, and BB (the cat)  was very happy to sleep with me on the bed last night.  Both seem to be adjusting well.

1/1 Foster day number 2 and all is going well. Oliver LOVES the snow and is happy as a clam to have a snow day today! He's been doing well, eating  twice a day and he's been drinking plenty of water.  No issues with upset stomach or diarrhea, so his stress level seems to be low.  I had a visitor yesterday and Oliver proved he loves to meet new people.  He is  very protective of the house and will bark and growl at anything that moves outside the door including the plow truck, people walking, or other dogs.  We had a walking encounter with another dog yesterday and he did pretty well, though he was a bit aggressive toward the other dog and lunged at him.  He did well with walking away, and seemed to whine a  bit at leaving, so this may have been a bit of his skittish nature. He seems to be very skittish in certain circumstances, startling at the loud noises.

Introductions with the cat have been a bit difficult and will take lots of time.  More work on this will follow. I've set up his crate in the kitchen and have placed his blanket  and some toys in there for him.  He has not gone into it on his own yet.  I put some treats in yesterday and he was in it for a bit yesterday eating them while I was doing dishes, however it was very brief.  It
seems I'm going to have to work on crate being a  "happy place" so he doesn't get anxious when I leave.  Today and
tomorrow we're going to work on being in the crate for short periods of time and see how he does to prepare for work on Wednesday. Oh and he seems to have come with a few fleas (they were jumping on me while he sat  with me on the couch last night) so I've put a stripe of the flea killer down his back to clear that up. Lastly, here are some pictures of Oliver on our snow day for your enjoyment... more to come.

12/30 Oliver arrived at his foster home yesterday and is settling in well.  All his transporters fell in love with this guy !! watch for more updates.

Oliver is a gorgeous male boxer.   He is very sweet and loving (lots of kisses) and gets excited to meet new people.    He is used to living with other dogs but would also be fine as an only dog as he loves to have all the attention to himself.  He gets along great with other dogs but does like to be the boss.  He is crate trained but also does well with free roam in a dog proof area of the house.

Watch for more updates once we secure a foster home and get to know Oliver some more.
