Oreo
5 Year Old Male Boxer, Good with Other Dogs, No History with Cats
4/9 Oreo has been
doing well adjusting to his new foster family, he has had a lot of hurdles
to overcome, he has had to learn how to play "gently"
with my eight year old son and that he is not the King of the house.
He gets along very well with my other male boxer and my male pug. The female
boxer continues to be a challenge for him,
unfortunately for him he does not seem to get the fact that he is not
going to win.
He is great with me and our bond continues to grow
stronger, he has learned to trust me and that he needs to obey me. He will
still challenge the authority of anyone else. He needs strong leadership.
His behavior is typical of a dominant male, he has gone
after the pug who can be a little terror himself when it comes to toys. He
will try and push the other dogs out of the way so he can eat first or drink
all the water. He definitely needs to be
with another more submissive dog, maybe just not three other dogs.
He cannot be left any longer then 5 hrs. he is not
crated as he gets very anxious when crated.
3/16 - Let's see where should I begin with the "Big Guy" as I affectionately call him. I guess I will start with the basics. He is great with my eight year old son, Oreo out weighs him by 30 lbs and I do have to remind him that he is not a lap dog. He absolutely loves my thirteen year old daughter I think older kids would be a better fit for him if he was to be placed in a home with children. He could care less one way or the other about the cats. He has seen them come down stairs and has shown no interest. He gets along very well with my male boxer and my male pug, we have had a few issues with the female boxer, but in his defense she is the dog "alpha" of the house and he is testing the waters. He walks very well on a leash, he loves the car, sleeps very well on the couch and he doesn't snore !!
He is able to jump a 2 1/2 ft.
gate in a single bound - he does not like being
separated from the other dogs. The only real issue he has is he gets
very stressed out in his crate but we will be working on this with him.
Oreo is a great boxer boy who will make someone a wonderful companion.
Oreo is a really handsome guy, very social and friendly, with lots of Boxer energy. He is ok with other dogs, in fact he has always lived with other dogs so we will probably be looking to place him in a home with another canine companion for him. He has lived with a young child, and was great with him but due to his energy he will occasionally knock over youngsters so he would probably be best with older kids. He is used to a fenced yard, and will take off if given the chance so we will also be looking for a fenced in yard in his new home. Watch for updates as he settles in at his foster home and we get to know him more. |
