Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for him while he is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.
2/6 Remy continues to be a
extremely happy, very playful and fun loving little
guy. He gets along very well with my two other resident
boxers, there are lots of playful wrestling matches in
our house. You can frequently catch all three of them
sleeping together. He is happy to share food, treats
and toys with no signs of aggression at all. We walk
every day sometimes twice per day as the exercise is
good for all of us. He spends about three hours per day
in his crate which he goes into without any hesitation.
Sometimes he just likes to be in his "cave" with a chew
toy. Remy has started in Glyco-Flex for his hips
although I have to say those hips don't hold him back at
all, he runs and plays with the other guys without a
care in the world. This snugly little guy has a lot of
love to give.
1/20 It has been decided that Remy is not a candidate for FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) Surgery. For now we will be taking a more conservative approach and will be starting him on a regime of Glyco Flex and buffered aspirin to see if that makes a difference. It may take some time before the benefits of the Glyco Flex are noticeable but the aspirin should make him more comfortable immediately. It is possible that Remy will need THR (Total hip replacement) surgery but its not recommend at this time and its not definite that he will ever need this surgery. 1/8 Remy has been diagnosed with a double hip dysplasia, we are consulting with our vet and a specialist as to the best next steps to take for Remy. Remy will most likely require a very expensive surgery, any donations towards his treatment will be greatly appreciated. 12/27 Remy had a fabulous Christmas with lots of new toys to chew on. He is rough on toys and takes great pleasure in destroying them. Of course, he thinks all the toys are his and has a great time wrestling with Cooper (one of my resident boxers) over each toy. Remy is looking and feeling wonderful. He's eating well and takes a nice walk each morning and then plays with Cooper for hours with a few naps in between. He has learned sit, stay, down and he responds well to each one. He does pull on his leash but we're working on that. He does extremely well in his crate while I'm at work (about 4 1//2 hours each day) and it would be best for Remy if this continued in new home as he curious and can get himself into trouble if left unattended. He loves to snuggle with whomever is available, people, dogs it doesn't matter and he loves the nice warm and toasty spot right in front of the fireplace. He's a very happy go lucky puppy with lots of love and kisses to give. 11/27 Remy is doing great! He is officially house broken and he's very proud of himself. He'll do his business outside and when I praise him he gets all wiggly. He really loves to snuggle and play with my two resident boxers for hours and hours on end. He is still a puppy and will, if given the opportunity, steal something off the coffee table to use as a chew toy. He still isn't thrilled with our morning walks but is going and is nicely tuckered out when we get back home in time for the mid morning nap. I think he fell asleep sitting up this morning. He is a super happy and extremely loving little pup. He gets up every morning as happy as can be with lots of kisses and wiggles to start the new day- now that has to put a smile on anyone's face! Check out his new pictures. He looks great and I love the smile! 11/5 Remy is doing fabulously well. He gets along
great with the resident boxers Rocky and Cooper. He plays non stop with Cooper
- tug of war, chase, the norm. Remy loves to snuggle up with Cooper and Rocky
as soon as the big guys lay down. He gaining wait nicely and has stopped
throwing himself at the cabinets during food prep. instead he sits patiently and
waits. He loves to play however he does not seem to enjoy exercise, he likes to
lay down during our morning walks rather then actually walk. I goes nicely into
his crate without any fuss. He's in his crate for several hours per day without
any problem. He is learning housebreaking and follows what the big guys do but
if I'm not right at the door to let him out it's too late. He is a wonderful
and loving little guy who makes us laugh and smile with his goofy antics. 10/20 Remy is a wonderful little guy that is full of energy. He is learning some house rules. For example, he needs to be told that he can't walk on the coffee table or throw himself at the kitchen cabinets trying to see what's on the counter. He's done extremely well with my two resident boxers and all three are getting along peacefully. He did great in the crate last night and slept very well. We have been diligent out potty training and have had no problems. He is very, very thin and is currently eating three meals a day. He will also eat anything on the ground including leaves, the remote, etc. This morning he joined us on our usual morning walk and did great. He was tuckered out but happy. He has a terrific personality and really wants to be loved. How could you not love that little face with those bottom teeth sticking out!
Remy is a gorgeous brindle male boxer. Remy was found as a stray and was not claimed. He was in pretty bad shape when he was picked up but is doing much better now. He seems to be fine with other dogs and just wants to play. As he is still very much a puppy he will need a home where someone is home more often than not to work on his housebreaking. Watch for updates as we get to know Remy. |
