Rocky

4 Year Old Male, Housebroken, Good with Most Dogs

Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for her while she is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.

11/20 - We have discovered that Rocky can sometimes be a dominate boy with some other dogs so he would probably be best as an only dog, so that he can get all the love and attention that he enjoys so much all to himself, also due to his energy level we would prefer to see him in a home without children.  Rocky would do best with an experienced boxer owner who will provide him with plenty of exercise and training.

10/23 - Rocky really is a wonderful dog. His natural disposition is so gentle, affectionate, submissive and funny! Whenever I come home even if I just ran to the corner store, he does the happy dance. He contorts his body so that it looks like the letter C with his head and butt bending towards each other. Then he gets on his tip-toes and wiggles! It is the cutest darn thing. He has the natural boxer protective quality and would rather stand at the fence, quietly watching all that pass by, than play ball or chase Kava ( his foster sister). Although sometimes after he has surveyed the land he will play and run in the yard. I don't think he was originally exposed to a lot of toys as he has been very hesitant with the toys around the house. However, he does tend to go for the soft toys and is especially fond of a (now one legged) ostridge.  He is not crate trained yet but is not destructive at all when left alone for the day; a huge plus for any working parent. He is great with my very dominant female dog and very friendly with dogs we pass while on our walks and runs.

Rocky's only temporary downfall is no formal obedience training. He pretty much does whatever he wants when he wants. Because he is naturally such a great guy this doesn't really present a major problem. However, when for safety sake you need him to come, his free will can pose a problem. We will keep working on it and I am sure he will excel once he understands what is being asked of him.

This handsome guy is Rocky. Rocky is very friendly and full of boxer kisses.  Rocky needs a home where he will get plenty of exercise and attention, he is an active boy who even likes to swim.  He is not crate trained but is not destructive when left home alone.   Rocky is fine with other dogs he has even lived around horses and a rabbit and is good with them also, but he will chase cats.  Rocky has had some training and knows his basic commands.

Watch for updates as we get to know Rocky.
