Samantha
9 Year Old Spayed Female Boxer, Good with Other Dogs, No History with Cats, Older Kids
1/5 Samantha had a great holiday. She loves playing in
the snow with the kids. She bites at the snow and then shakes her head and
starts to jump around. She has a lot of energy for a nine year old, you
would never guess her age. On Christmas morning she managed to have her nose
in her stocking and she pulled out the contents. She is so cute. She loved
her soft football guy, she managed to get the leg detached the first day she
had it (that's how much she loved it). We have since sewn the football guy
and all is well. Samantha loves her walks daily and loves to play. She is
doing just fine with all her fido friends in the neighborhood. She even
spent an evening (not overnight) with one of her buddies, Zeus. Zeus is a
chow, yellow lab mix. The two of them got along fine and had no problem
sharing their space. Samantha did really well being at their house, she
would be no trouble around other dogs.
11/27 Samantha has been having a lot of fun chasing leaves (and eating a few). She loves the cooler weather and really enjoys her walks. We have been going on nature trails/walks at some state parks on the weekends as well as her daily walks). She has been having a great time. She loves sleeping on her comforter and cuddling up on the floor at night with it. Sometimes she even moves it so she can be closer to the person in the room. She is a people dog. She does not sleep on the beds. She enjoyed some turkey on Thanksgiving and had a great holiday. 11/13 Samantha is doing well. She had her first bath in the tub (instead of outside). She wasn't crazy about it at first, but she did okay. After she was as frisky as ever! She has come with us on two family walks/hikes these past two weekends. She loved them! One was about three miles, she did really well. She loves to be with the family. She will be turning nine next month, you'd never know it by her activity level! She had made another new friend, this time a yellow lab/chow mix. They have been on walks together around the neighborhood and get along well. 10/30 Samantha is doing well after recovering from her surgery. Her winter coat is coming in and she is looking really well. Her energy level is right up there. She loves to play just as much as ever. She loves to go for her walks everyday and chase the leaves as they get blown by the wind. She continues to play well with the other dogs in the neighborhood. Now that it's getting cooler she loves to sleep on a comforter we have for her. She even likes blankets on top of her - too cute!
8/19 Samantha is home after her surgery to
have 7 more mast cell tumors removed and doing well. She had
three of the seven areas sutured: the area on her front and back
leg, and the hind quarter. She is already trying to play, it's
hard to keep her calm. They gave her more antibiotics to take
and also said that I can give her up to 50Mg of Benadryl twice a
day. This will help her to heal faster and may quiet her down a
little. Her toys are in hiding for right now. She will have her
sutures removed in 10 to 14 days.
/8 Samantha has become great friends with a Dalmatian and a bichon. She is so friendly, she even allows the dogs to sit on her favorite spot. Samantha had so much fun when a moth landed right in front of her nose while she was lying down on the floor! She played with it gently and the moth made her sneeze when it fluttered its wings. How cute! 6/29 Samantha is very happy and playful this week. We slowed down a bit for the hot weather day, other than that all things are fine. We are still interested in all other animals great and small! She was fine during the thunder storms last night. 6/24 Samantha took a ride to Cape Cod this past weekend. We only had one pit stop on the way. She did wonderful with the car ride. She does enjoy putting her head out the window from time to time. Around the neighborhood, she has been busy detecting bunnies and one woodchuck, She is so proud of herself when she finds them! She has been enjoying being outside today because it's cooler than it has been. As my boys like to say "she is awesome".
6/19 The adventures of Samantha - she caught a
sun turtle in the front yard! She was so proud of herself. She did
not hurt the turtle. We kept it for a day and then let it go in a
nearby pond. She also had a three mile walk with two Shitzus, one
female, one male. She did very well taking on the role of alpha dog,
after the walk they all played for a little while. Samantha loves to
be with other dogs!
6/8 Samantha continues to do really well. She had me laughing this week when I was mowing the lawn, she was tied outside, I shut off the lawn mower to empty the bag and I hear a moaning kind of sound coming from Samantha's direction. She was twisting her body from side to side as if to scratch her side on the ground and rubbing her face in the grass, moaning, sneezing and carrying on like a puppy!
She also responded well to the Gas man coming to
change the meter this week. She barked appropriately at first and then
greeted him when I asked her to do so.
5/31 Samantha is doing great. She enjoys her baths. We are teaching her how to sit and then catch a ball. She enjoyed a birthday cookout party we had for our children. She was well behaved and loved all the attention she received. Samantha now has many dog friends in the neighborhood, she enjoys playing with them. She also has enjoyed going to the pet store. She looks great!
5/20 Samantha reacted calmly during a thunderstorm this week. She is enjoying going for car rides and visiting pet stores. My neighbor allowed Samantha to run around and play freely in their fenced in backyard. She was so happy she ran in circles and jumped up and down! She came when called with no problems. Samantha will make a wonderful pet for some lucky family 5/15 Samantha is doing very well. She loves to play with other dogs and is very sociable. We are back to our normal walks again now that it's been two weeks since her surgery - she loves to walk! She does tend to overheat easily in the hot weather. She enjoyed having an ice cube added to her water bowl. Her summer coat is coming in and she has more of a reddish tint to her fur - beautiful. 5/7 Samantha re-cooped very nicely from her surgery she had last Wednesday. She only had one day of feeling sluggish and not quite herself. Today she had her bandage changed and the stitches will be removed next Monday. She is wonderful at taking medicine, no problems. Today we can resume are walks - we both missed them very much. Great news, her bare patch from her previous surgery in November is starting to grow in!
4/29 - Samantha continues to do well at her
foster home. We did discover a small lump on her leg which is a mast
cell tumor that will be removed later this week.
Samantha has lost 5 lbs, her fur is shiny and
she looks fabulous! She plays with all the dogs in the neighborhood.
Samantha is a wonderful girl!! 4/24 - Samantha continues to do well playing with other dogs of all ages. She did very well at her Vet checkup, she was well behaved and reacted calmly to her Distemper shot. She is now on two meals a day. She has mastered the "lay down" command. We gave her a bath, she loved it, and was very frisky afterwards.
4/14 Samantha is lying down on command now
(with just a little encouragement). We are still working on going from three
meals a day to two - but we are making process. Samantha loves to sleep with
a blanket over her. She's so cute! She has had a few "playdates" and has
done very well with other dogs. She was very well behaved over the Easter
holiday, we had lots of company of all ages, including a two year old. 4/6 Samantha is a very happy dog. She is now switched over to a healthier dog food. We are now working on going from eating three times a day to twice a day. She had a lot of fun with the little bit of snow we had. My children had a sleepover last night and Samantha was well behaved. She was a little excited when the kids where (but not out of control) and slept when they did. She seems to be "talking" to us more - it's so cute! 4/3 - Samantha is a very nice
dog. She is very well behaved and a lot of fun to be around. She wants a lot of
attention but not for really long periods of time. She loves to go on walks and
play. She always wants to be outside, although not alone. She loves to
play with her rope toy and her fuzzy ball. She is well trained, she sits, gives
her paw, and stays. We are working on lying down.
Samantha is an 8 year old female, with lots of energy!!! She is a really great dog. She is very friendly and playful. She is fine with other dogs but has always been an only dog so we will probably look to place her as an only dog. She is such a love! She does occasionally jump up to say Hello, but she is not excessive. She knows her basic commands. She is left uncrated when home alone and is never destructive. Watch for updates once we get her into a
foster home and get to know her. |
