Although you may not be able to adopt this dog, you can help us care for him while he is in foster care! Even a donation of $5 will help us with vet care, food, etc.
2/27 Shai is doing well at his foster home. He loves his foster sister. However despite having the company of another dog he is still suffering
from separation anxiety when left alone. His foster home is working on this but Shai will need a forever home that is willing to continue to work
on this with him.
1/27 Shai is doing a lot better than he was when he first got here. He is more comfortable with his new surroundings,
and has started to come out of his shell. He is listening to commands a lot better, too! His interest in the cat has
increased, but nothing to be worried about in my eyes. Shai is still nervous when it comes to his crate. He's very
long, and sometimes when he's eating, he stretches out so that his hindquarters are outside of the crate - it's pretty funny!
We have only had one incident with his separation anxiety. I think having another dog around is a BIG help. He is such a
lovebug!!! He is very trusting, letting us touch his paws, and ears, checking his teeth - that sort of thing. He is a very gentle boy,
and is quite tolerant of his "little sister" Tory. All she wants to do is play, so sometimes when Shai wants to be left alone, we have
to tell Tory to "go", which she reluctantly does. They play so well together...we're planning on introducing Shai to Fenway, who
lives right next door. We don't expect any trouble. We'll keep you posted!!!
1/21 Shai arrived at his foster home yesterday and is settling in well. Introductions to his foster sister Tory went well and it wasn't long before they were playing. Shai was also introduced to the resident cat without incident. His foster Mom says that even though it's only been a few hours, he just fits right in! He hadn't had any experience w/ cats prior to coming here, but when he met Tank, there was no aggression whatsoever! He and Tory have been playing very nicely all night. We were told that Shai did not like his crate, so we decided to feed him his dinner in there...so long as the door was open, he did GREAT, we will continue to work on this with him. More updates to come as we get to know him. Shai is an adorable male boxer who is full of boxer hugs and kisses. Shai is coming into rescue because he has separation anxiety and is currently in a situation where he is left alone for a long work day. Shai will need a home where someone is home for most of the day or can bring Shai to work with them. A canine companion may also help relieve his anxiety also. He gets along great with other dogs, he has no history with cats. He is good with kids also. Watch for updates once we get this boy into foster care. |
