It has been 1.5 years since we adopted Bodi, and we have loved every minute we have been with him.  He is a wonderful dog with a loving, faithful, and goofy personality.  He is constantly making us laugh with his antics, such as standing on his head on the couch, sleeping with his head hanging off the edge of the couch while his lips hang over his face, bouncing around like a Mexican jumping bean when we enter a room, and “singing” to us when he gets frustrated.  He loves to cuddle with you any time of day and will follow me around the house while I am working.  He definitely appreciates the fact that I work from home most days.

Bodi came to Boxer Buddies from a good home due to changed circumstances in his previous owner’s life.  It is clear that he was well cared for and loved, as he has had few troubles settling into our home.  He immediately became best buds with our other dog, Jed, and they have never had a conflict of any kind.  The two of them are now inseparable.  They play all the time, mouth-wrestling and chasing each other around.  Bodi sounds quite fierce during these games, but it is all show.  Jed has become the quintessential younger brother, often nudging Bodi into a game of chase around the back yard.  When they have had to be separated for things like individual trips to the vet, they are ecstatic to see each other when reunited.  Bodi’s favorite toys are sticks (the bigger the better—and I mean tree-sized!), frizbees, and tennis ball.  He isn’t too keen on sharing them, preferring to tease both us and Jed with them, but he is slowly learning to trust that we will give the toy back if he “drops it” for us.  Jed, of course, is another story

Bodi is great with children.  Our 2 year old niece loves to hug, kiss, and cuddle with him.  She often falls asleep with him on the couch.  We are pleased to see this, although not surprised by it, as we are expecting our first biped addition to our family in November—right around Bodi’s birthday!  We expect that both dogs will attach themselves to our child and be good companions and fierce protectors.  Bodi is very good at sounding the alarm if he has any concerns about what is happening with any of our nieces or nephews.

Bodi has had many adventures since coming to live with us.  He has been on several hikes, even climbing Mt. Washington in New Hampshire last summer.  He has been to visit family and friends in NJ, NH, and Maine.  Since adopting Bodi, we have only been on one short trip without the dogs, and they got to stay at “Gammy’s” house in Maine for that weekend where they were spoiled with a huge yard and lots of treats.  Bodi has developed a fondness for water, but not swimming, on these adventures.  He prefers to keep his feet firmly on the ground, although he will wade around up to his shoulders and dive underwater to bring up sticks, frizbees, and other cool items without hesitation.

We are grateful for Bodi being a part of our lives and are no longer sure how we could ever have managed without him.
