Adoption Process Please Note: Before you fill out an application please be sure that rescue is the route you want to take to find a new companion. This is not a first come/first serve procedure, and we place our dogs into new homes based on what we believe to be in the best interest of both the dog and the adoptive family. Please don't use our time to take you through our entire process only to tell us you've changed your mind, you bought a puppy, etc. We would like our volunteers to focus their efforts and time on those applications that are serious in helping a rescued boxer. We take great care in matching our dogs to prospective homes. The dog that catches your eye or the picture that steals your heart may not be the dog best suited for you and your family. We ask our applicants to be open to different dogs, as opposed to being fixated on any particular dog and then getting upset if that dog isn't a match. If you understand this and find our procedures acceptable, please fill out the on line application. If this is unacceptable to you, please feel free to explore your other options for adoption.
All of these steps must be completed prior to adoption 1. Submit an Adoption Application 2. Telephone interview with a BBRI representative 3. Reference checking. Please contact your veterinarian to let them know we will be calling and to release information to us. 4. Pre-Adoption Home Study 5. Non-Refundable $300 Adoption Donation due at the time of adoption Please Note: One of the most frustrating aspects of adopting from a qualified rescue group is the time it takes. We review applications, conduct telephone interviews, call references and conduct home visits. This attention to detail is one of the reasons why our placement success ratio is somewhere around 99% overall. We are all volunteers. The members of our organization work outside the home, and they each have their own families and their own animals to attend to in addition to the volunteer work they do for us. If you are not willing to be patient during the adoption process, then adopting from our rescue may not be your best option. Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. Boxer Buddies does not have a facility, and you cannot make arrangements to meet the dogs in their foster homes until you have completed the entire adoption process. Our foster families dedicate their time to nurturing and loving these dogs. We don’t ask them to open their homes to “window shoppers” but focus only on people with whom we’ve spoken personally and believe to be a good candidate family for that foster's Boxer once that applicant has completed the adoption process. We strive to find the best fit, lifestyle and environment for each individual Boxer, based on the assessment of daily interactions by its foster family. We do not accept applications for specific dogs, however we will take your preferences into consideration, but be sure to read the dogs bio to ensure that you can offer what that dog needs. Please be aware that all of our available dogs have people currently trying to qualify to adopt them. Our goal is to find the best home for each individual dog, not the best dog for each individual home. Please Note: If it is posted next to the dog "Pending Adoption" that means that an applicant has completed the necessary adoption steps and will be adopting that dog shortly.
Please Note:
We do not take applications for specific
dogs. Our application process is lengthy and there is a strong possibility
that any dog available now, will be adopted by the time the process is
complete. We will not process applications that are only interested in 1
particular dog, rather, we process applications that are interested in
adopting a rescued boxer that is a good match regardless of age, color,
gender, etc....
If you submitted an application AND received an automated confirmation but have not heard from anyone, please email info@boxerbuddies.org. If you filled out an application, but did NOT receive your automated confirmation, your application was not received by us and you will need to re-submit it.
Boxer Buddies will not place two female dogs in a home together, to better understand this policy please read this article. |
